About myCred Progress Map
You set up a badge system, users see the prize at the end, and nobody knows what they have to do to get there. The usual result is a badge that gets looked at once and forgotten. myCred Progress Map targets exactly that gap: it shows each user where they stand and which steps are left.
A badge with no visible path moves nobody
People who run a community, a store with points or a course platform tend to put their effort into designing the prize and very little into explaining the route. But users decide whether to keep going based on how close the goal feels. A map that shows completed and pending levels turns a distant reward into a series of concrete steps.
How progress looks with myCred Progress Map
The plugin lets each user track their progress and see the steps to earn a specific badge. Progress is shown across several levels, so it is not a single bar but a route with stages.
On the admin side, you create the map and decide how it looks:
- Different colors for completed and incomplete levels, so progress is clear at a glance.
- Vertical or horizontal direction, depending on the space you have.
- Several alignment options to fit your page design.
Vertical or horizontal: it depends on where you place it
Try both with your real colors before deciding: what matters is that the contrast between completed and incomplete levels reads well in your theme.
It needs myCred and your badges already defined
Progress Map is an add-on for myCred, not a standalone gamification system. Its settings and its hook appear inside the myCred hooks and settings sections. The work splits like this:
- Already solved: showing progress by levels toward a badge, with colors for complete and incomplete, vertical or horizontal orientation and alignment.
- Covered with myCred: creating the points, the badges and the rules for earning them.
- Covered by you: deciding how many levels each route has and which action each one requires, so the map makes sense.
- Covered by you or a professional: custom design tweaks if your theme needs something the color and alignment options can't deliver.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work without myCred?
It is not meant to: it plugs into the myCred hooks and settings, so you need myCred installed and your badges created.
Can I change the map colors?
Yes. You can choose different colors for completed and incomplete levels.
Can it be displayed horizontally?
Yes, the map supports vertical or horizontal direction, with several alignment options.
Does it work for any badge?
It is designed so the user can see the steps toward a specific badge. Check in the demo how it looks with the number of levels you plan to use.
