About Newsletter Extended Composer Blocks
For anyone who already publishes on a blog and wants the newsletter built from that content
Putting together a newsletter often means copying and pasting blog posts, fighting with email HTML and then finding out it looks broken on mobile. Newsletter Extended Composer Blocks tackles the heaviest part: it expands the Newsletter Composer with blocks that reuse what you have already published.
It suits you if you already use the Newsletter plugin and need more variety: columns, gallery, menu, pricing table or full posts. It is not for you if you want a standalone plugin: it is an add-on and needs the Newsletter plugin with its Composer. It also does not include the WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads or events blocks on its own: those come with their own integration addons.
What you already wrote, turned into a newsletter
Anyone sending newsletters from a blog ends up redoing every week what they already published. Two blocks in this add-on avoid that work:
- Custom Post Type Block: inserts into the newsletter any type of content your blog has, with several layout and style options.
- Full Post Block: adds the full content of a post.
The posts block in the basic Composer already shows the latest posts and filters by category and tag. These two take it further when your content is not just posts or you want the whole text.
The blocks in Newsletter Extended Composer Blocks, one by one
Each block has its own options box to change colors, sizes and other visual aspects without touching code. Besides the two above, these are added:
- Columns: responsive columns with title, text and image.
- Gallery: responsive gallery with images from your media library.
- Menu: a horizontal row of links, widely used by online stores to link the main categories.
- Pricing: a ready-made structure of 2 or 3 columns for a pricing table.
- List: a list with graphical bullets.
These are layout pieces, not a full template: you decide the order and the content by dragging blocks.
Video does not play inside the email, and other details about buttons
The video block lets you reference a video from YouTube, Vimeo or other platforms, but email clients cannot fully play video: only the cover and the link to the platform are included. If you expect it to play inside the email itself, adjust that expectation.
The Multi Button block puts a row of buttons and lets you add to each one a list sign-up or removal action when it is clicked. It is useful for segmenting subscribers by what interests them.
Mobile, preview and custom blocks
The blocks are responsive and you can check the mobile look while editing, which matters because a good share of newsletters are read on a phone. The result is designed to look good on many email clients, desktop and mobile.
If a piece is missing, the Composer lets you develop and register your own blocks starting from an existing one, with minimal technical skills.
Questions before installing it
Does it work without the Newsletter plugin? No. It is an add-on for the Newsletter Composer and makes no sense on its own.
Can I play a video inside the email? No. Only the cover and the link to the video platform are included.
Does it bring the WooCommerce or events block? No. Those special blocks come with the corresponding integration addons.
Is it useful for segmenting subscribers? Yes, with the Multi Button block, which can add or remove the subscriber from a list depending on the button they click.
