About Newsletter – Fluent Forms
Good-looking forms that don't fill your mailing list
Many sites already have a well-built contact form made with Fluent Forms and, separately, a subscription form made with another tool. The result: two styles, two places to check data, and people who wrote to you through a form but never made it onto the list. This add-on connects the two: submissions from a Fluent Forms form can become subscribers of the Newsletter plugin.
How Newsletter and Fluent Forms get connected
The process is done from the add-on screen, inside the Newsletter menu:
- You pick from a list the Fluent Forms form you want to link (it can be a new one or one you already have).
- You map each form field to a subscriber field. The only required one is the email address.
- You save, and from then on submissions from that form feed your list.
You can add a checkbox to the form to ask for consent to subscribe. It is optional: subscriptions can also be collected without it. If you use it, adjust the label so the text is clear to the person filling in the form.
What you gain depending on the kind of site you have
If you already use Fluent Forms for contact or quote requests
You can reuse the forms that already work and add subscription to them with a checkbox, without building a separate second form. It is the most convenient option if you don't want to touch what already converts.
If you are building a subscription form from scratch
The add-on takes care of sending the data to Newsletter.
If you run a multilingual site with WPML
For the user's language to be saved in their subscriber profile, you need to enable in WPML the language filtering option for AJAX operations. Without it, the starting language cannot be detected.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need the consent checkbox?
It is not required for the connection to work, but it is the way to make clear that the person agrees to receive your emails. What the regulations require in your case is something you must assess yourself.
Which field is essential?
Only the email address. The rest (first name, last name or others) you map if you have included them in the form.
Can I use a form that already exists?
Yes. You can edit an existing one or create a new one; the add-on shows them in a list for you to choose from.
Does it work with the free version of Fluent Forms?
Check in the demo and in your own installation that the fields you need are available in your version of Fluent Forms; the essential thing is to have a form with an email field.
It needs both the Newsletter plugin and Fluent Forms installed
This add-on does not work on its own: it is a bridge between two plugins, and it requires both. Nor does it replace email sending: it only collects subscribers from forms. Writing and sending newsletters, and managing lists and unsubscriptions, is still done with Newsletter.
