About Nextend Social Login Pro Addon

Built for sites where signing up is the first obstacle

A registration form with email, password and confirmation scares off many people before they see anything on your site. And someone who registers once and forgets the password rarely comes back to reset it: they just leave. Nextend Social Login Pro Addon replaces that first step with one click using an account the visitor already uses every day.

It suits WooCommerce stores, blogs with comments, training sites or news sites with registered readers. It is less useful if your audience has no account with any of the available networks or providers, or if you need very strict access control based only on your own passwords. Nor is it a membership plugin: it manages how people sign in, not what content each person sees.

The providers you can enable

Each visitor picks the account they feel comfortable with. Available providers include:

  • Facebook, Google, X (formerly Twitter), Apple and Microsoft
  • LinkedIn, Amazon, PayPal, GitHub and WordPress.com
  • Disqus, Yahoo, Discord, TikTok, Slack and Line
  • Steam, Twitch, Spotify, Reddit, Kakao, Patreon and VKontakte

Choosing well matters: a technical or gaming audience responds to GitHub, Discord or Steam; a general audience to Google or Facebook; a professional one to LinkedIn or Microsoft.

Setting up Facebook or Google means going through their developer consoles

This is the part that surprises buyers most. For each provider you have to create an app in its console and copy the keys into the plugin. Google is usually straightforward, if a little long; Facebook (Meta) can get more complicated. The plugin comes with detailed documentation with screenshots and video tutorials, but set aside some time and make sure you have access to your business's developer accounts.

How Nextend Social Login Pro Addon works on login, checkout and comments

  • Login form: shows the social buttons on the WordPress login.
  • WooCommerce: customers can create their account during checkout or log in to the one they already have, with one less step between cart and order.
  • Comments: people who want to give an opinion don't have to fill in details first, which helps bring more participation.
  • Linking from the profile: each user can link or unlink their social accounts from their WordPress profile.

When the provider doesn't give the email

Not every provider hands over the email address. In that case the plugin can ask the visitor for it at registration, and you can also ask for a username. That way you don't end up with accounts without an email, a real problem if you later send order notices.

Role control and button appearance

You can forbid social login for specific roles. The typical example: require administrators to log in with a password, so a compromised social account can't open the dashboard. Buttons can be shown as icons or wide buttons to fit your design. The plugin is translation ready, useful if your audience speaks several languages.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to code?

No, but you do need to be comfortable in the Google, Facebook or other provider consoles to create the apps. The documentation guides each step.

Does it work for a WooCommerce store?

Yes: it allows registering during checkout or logging in to an existing account.

Can I stop administrators from using social networks?

Yes, you can block social login by role and require a password from them.

What happens if a network doesn't share the email?

The plugin can ask the user to type it in at registration.

Can a user switch social accounts later?

Yes, from their WordPress profile they can link or unlink accounts.
