About Object Cache Pro

When the hosting holds up, but the database does not

Some sites run fine for anonymous visitors and crawl as soon as logged-in users arrive: a WooCommerce order, an admin panel, a dynamic page that cannot be served from a page cache. There, every visit queries the database again and again for the same data. Object Cache Pro stores those results in Redis so WordPress does not have to recalculate them.

That is the difference from a page caching plugin: page caching helps the anonymous visitor, while object caching helps exactly where the former falls short, with dynamic content and what logged-in users see.

What Object Cache Pro does under the hood to use less Redis

It does not just connect WordPress to Redis. Its code is written to avoid unnecessary reads and writes and to keep memory usage low. The features that matter most:

  • Batch prefetching: groups Redis commands into fewer requests to the server, which reduces load time and the pressure on Redis.

  • Compression: supports LZF, LZ4 and Zstandard to reduce memory usage and network traffic.

  • Binary serialization: stores WordPress data structures in a compact format.

  • Asynchronous and group flushing: clears large volumes of data without blocking the site and flushes only a specific cache group.

  • Race condition mitigation: prevents data loss when many users perform similar actions at the same time.

Diagnostics, WooCommerce and complex environments

When a cache fails, the hard part is knowing why. This plugin includes opt-in event logging (you can use your own PSR-3 logger), cache analytics, a dashboard widget, Site Health integration, WP CLI commands, Query Monitor and Debug Bar. It also offers secure connections with TLS.

It is optimized for WooCommerce, Jetpack and Yoast SEO, and is compatible with Batcache and WP Rocket. It works on multisite, can be loaded as a Must-Use Plugin and supports Redis in cluster mode, Sentinel and replication. If your hosting uses Relay, it takes advantage of its shared in-memory cache.

It needs a Redis server: decide whether it is worth it for you

Object Cache Pro does not include Redis: it is a client for a Redis server that must already exist in your infrastructure, so your hosting should offer it or you should be able to install it. On shared hosting without Redis, it has nothing to connect to. Nor does it replace a page caching plugin, minify files or optimize images: it only handles object caching.

Is it worth it on a small, low-traffic blog?

Probably not. It is most noticeable on stores, memberships, courses, sites with many logged-in users or installations with a lot of dynamic content.

Does it work for WooCommerce?

Yes, it is tested and optimized for WooCommerce, which is one of the cases where page caching helps least.

Does it work with multisite?

Yes, it supports multisite networks.

What do I do if something fails?

Enable event logging and check Site Health or the WP CLI commands to locate the problem.

Does it replace W3 Total Cache or LiteSpeed Cache?

Not entirely: those plugins do more, such as page caching or minification. Object Cache Pro focuses only on object caching, and can coexist with them.
