Choosing the day is easy, being able to keep it is the hard part
A date picker at checkout is something anybody can add. The problem appears on the Saturday when twelve people have chosen that day and you can only make four deliveries. The website promised something the business cannot supply, and that means twelve annoyed customers instead of eight sales that would have moved to another day without complaint.
Which is why, of everything this plugin brings, what genuinely matters is the daily delivery limit. The calendar closes the date when it fills, and the customer picks another without ever knowing there was a problem.
What can be configured
- Delivery days, choosing which weekdays you work.
- Holidays and blocked days, for closing specific dates.
- Preparation time, so nobody asks for delivery tomorrow if you need two days.
- Time slots, created one by one or generated in bulk, and blockable by weekday.
- Maximum deliveries per day and per slot.
What the paid version adds
Different calendars by shipping method, product category, shipping class, customer role or pickup location. That is what lets the cake be collected tomorrow while the furniture takes two weeks, within the same shop.
Also same-day and next-day delivery with a cut-off time, a surcharge by urgency or chosen date, recurring deliveries for anyone working with subscriptions, Google Calendar synchronisation, and letting the customer change their date from their account, which is the feature that saves the most phone calls.
Two configuration tips
Set preparation time to your worst case. If sometimes you take one day and sometimes three, put three. An order arriving earlier than promised is a pleasant surprise; one arriving later is a complaint.
Set the same-day cut-off generously in your favour. If the courier collects at five, set the cut-off at two, not half past four. That margin is what absorbs the day with more orders than usual.
