About Otaku – Anime, Manga & K-Pop WordPress Theme

Built for anime, manga and K-pop sites (not for a generic business)

Building a fandom website often ends with a corporate template and character images pasted on top: it looks dull, can't showcase events and doesn't suit a merchandise shop. Otaku was made for a different audience: sites about comics, anime, manga, cosplay, K-pop and cosplay events. It also supports nearby uses: video aggregator, artist portfolio, blog, art gallery, video game shop or an online cosplay clothing store.

If your project is a consultancy, a law firm or a services website unrelated to pop culture, the style of the theme will work against you. And if you want personalized support from the author, note that this kind of assistance is not included; documentation does come with it.

A fan community buys with its eyes and comes back for the calendar

Visitors in this sector arrive for an image, but they stay if there is something to follow: the next convention, the next release, the new gallery. That is why it matters that Otaku includes The Events Calendar among its bundled plugins, and not just a nice design. Whoever organizes or covers cosplay events can give them their own space instead of burying them in blog posts.

Nine homepages to decide the approach before touching anything

The theme includes 9 different homepages. That is no minor detail: a cosplay shop and an illustration gallery need different hierarchies, and choosing the right homepage avoids rebuilding the structure later. On top of that come several layouts for blog posts and portfolio, plus custom widgets and shortcodes.

  • Blog and portfolio: useful for reviews, scene news or an artist's work.
  • Widgets and shortcodes: let you add your own blocks without coding.
  • Retina-ready and responsive: illustrations look sharp on high-density screens and the layout adapts to mobile.

Which plugins Otaku bundles and what it integrates with

Besides WooCommerce and Elementor, the theme ships with a bundle of premium plugins: AI Engine, Slider Revolution, The Events Calendar and WPML, among others. It is compatible with Elementor, Gutenberg, WPML and WooCommerce, and is stated to be GDPR compatible. The latter does not replace your own obligations: privacy policy and cookies remain your responsibility.

If you are going to sell, WooCommerce is the shop engine: the theme provides the storefront, but you set up the catalog, payments and shipping yourself. For a multilingual site you have WPML.
