An unpaid booking is a calendar full of gaps you can't see
Anyone who lives off appointments knows the problem: the customer books, nobody asks for anything, and at the agreed time they don't show up. That slot can no longer be sold to someone else. This add-on brings PayPal into the BookPro booking process so payment happens while the customer is booking, not afterwards, when it's too late to react.
The money goes straight to your PayPal account. Charging up front reduces no-shows.
What PayPal Payments Standard Add-on does inside BookPro
It's a payment gateway for the BookPro checkout. The customer picks a service, pays with PayPal in the same booking flow and, once the payment is complete, receives an automatic confirmation.
- Sandbox and Live modes: you can test the payment with trial transactions and switch to production only when everything works.
- Multiple currencies: useful if you take bookings from customers in other countries.
- WPML and Polylang compatibility: the site can run in several languages, and right-to-left (RTL) layouts are supported too.
- Hooks and filters: a developer can extend its behavior.
Salons, clinics and studios: where it fits best
It fits businesses where the professional's time is what's being sold and can't be recovered: salons and spas, clinics, studios, freelancers and any BookPro site that wants to take payment at booking.
Think about how the customer experiences it, too. Paying with PayPal feels familiar, and that tends to help them complete the booking instead of dropping out at the last step. The plugin is designed to be lightweight and responsive, so payment works the same on mobile.
It needs BookPro and doesn't cover other payment methods: before you decide
It's an add-on: without the BookPro plugin installed and active it does nothing on its own. Nor does it replace the booking system or add scheduling features.
It only charges through PayPal. If your customers prefer to pay by card directly on your site, you will need another gateway compatible with BookPro, because this add-on doesn't include one.
Can I test payments before charging for real?
Yes. It has Sandbox and Live modes, so you can test before switching to Live.
Can I charge in euros and other currencies?
It supports multiple currencies. Before going public, make a test booking in the currency you plan to use.
Does it work on a multilingual site?
It is compatible with WPML and Polylang, and includes a .pot file to translate its texts.
Can I use it without BookPro?
No. It needs BookPro installed and activated, because it adds payment to the booking form you already have.
