About PublishPress Authors Pro
One article, three pairs of hands and a single author field
On a newsroom, a blog with contributors or a site with expert review, a text is rarely the work of one person: one writes it, another edits it and a third reviews it.
PublishPress Authors Pro lets you credit every person who takes part in a piece of content.
Multiple authors per post and contributors without an account
From the editor you choose one or several authors for each post and they are displayed together. Guest authors are created as profiles with no WordPress access: there is no need to hand out a username and password to someone who sends you one article, and their work is shown next to that of your regular authors.
Each author can have their own avatar, and the plugin supports custom post types, not just posts.
Profiles, author pages and a directory of your team
Each profile carries a biography, avatar and links, and you can display it below the content, in a widget or with a shortcode. Each author also has their own page, which brings together their profile and what they have published, and you decide which post details show (excerpts, tags, read-more links).
Two pieces help readers understand who is who:
- Author categories: group people as authors, coauthors, editors or reviewers so each person's contribution is clear.
- Author Lists: a directory with the authors you choose, a layout to your liking and a search box.
Custom fields and author boxes with PublishPress Authors Pro
The Pro version adds custom fields for job title, website, social profiles and whatever else you need, in text, link, email or rich-text format. With that data you build author boxes with your own layout (colors, spacing) and you can display authors organized by category, for example a reviewer under the main author.
It also includes Polylang support for multilingual sites, extra features in Author Lists and the option to remove PublishPress ads and branding.
Crediting a reviewer does not build a review workflow
This plugin takes care of the byline and the profile, not of how the text is produced. This is how the work is split:
- It solves: multiple authors per post, guest authors without an account, profiles, author pages, role categories and directories.
- You provide: writing each biography, uploading the photos and filling in each person's fields.
- You cover elsewhere: approving drafts, scheduling posts or controlling what each user can edit, which are jobs for other plugins or for your editorial organization.

Questions before installing PublishPress Authors Pro
Does a guest author need a WordPress account?
No. They are created as a profile, with no user or dashboard access, and are displayed just like authors with an account.
Can I show who edited or reviewed a text?
Yes, by organizing people into categories such as editors or reviewers and showing them in the author box.
Does it work for content types that are not posts?
Yes, it supports custom post types.
Does it fill in the biographies for me?
No. You write each person's details; the plugin organizes and displays them.
