A portfolio is judged by what you show first
Whoever lands on a photographer's or creative studio's portfolio rarely goes through all of it: they look at the first grid, decide whether the style suits them, and either write or leave. Many portfolios fail because they put all the work in the same identical grid, or because the theme fills the screen with decoration that competes with the images. Seline is designed to control that first impression: it offers many home pages, many grids and several hover effects so you can choose how your work is presented.
The demo organizes projects with category filters (photography, Photoshop, web design and web development), so it suits photographers, designers, developers and small studios that mix disciplines.
Seline's grids: eight hover styles and four formats
The most developed part of the theme is the portfolio. The effect styles shown in the demo are:
- Default, Boxed Modern and Boxed Clean
- Direction Aware and its inverse version
- Perspective, Blur and Border
Each style has variants in 2, 3 and 4 columns, full width and masonry. Fixed columns give a tidier grid.
One limit to keep in mind: these effects depend on the pointer. On a phone or tablet there is no hover, so check in the demo, from your phone, how the information for each project looks.
Home pages, pages and blog: what it includes and what you will need to review
There are standard home pages, one with a Swiper slider, a one-page version, two photography ones (one with a slider), one with a video player, one with a video background and one with a boxed banner. The Swiper home page is labeled Elementor: if you are interested in it, check whether you need that plugin to reproduce it.
Besides the portfolios, the demo includes:
- Several About pages, built with shortcodes.
- Services, galleries (2, 3 and 4 columns, full width and masonry) and team pages.
- Pricing tables, frequently asked questions, user login and a 404 page.
- Blog as a 2 or 3 column grid, with the sidebar on the right, on the left or none, and a single post.
- Four contact layouts and a Google map.
- Shop, product, cart and checkout pages.
About the shop: do not assume Seline is a complete e-commerce theme. Check in the demo which plugin it needs and whether it fits what you sell. The demo's pricing tables are examples, with plans from a different kind of business, so you will have to redo them with your own rates.
Frequently asked questions about Seline
Is it only for photography?
No. The demo mixes photography home pages with services, team, blog and shop, and its categories include web design and development. It works for any creative profile that makes a living by showing projects.
Is it suitable if my portfolio has a lot of images?
Avoid loading hundreds of heavy images on a single page: optimize them before uploading.
The demo texts are placeholders and must be replaced
The demo is full of Latin sample text, a fictional team (Amy, Jesica, Jahn and John Doe), posts dated 2019 and invented testimonials. If you import the demo content, do not publish it as is: replace the team, testimonials, posts and pricing tables with your own, and delete the pages you will not use so you do not leave empty routes.
A sensible way to start is to choose one home page and one portfolio style, test them with your real photos on desktop and mobile, and only then add secondary pages such as services, team or blog.
