About ShopMagic Customer Coupons Addon
One code for everyone ends up on coupon websites
You send a discount code to your whole list and a few weeks later you find it on a forum or a deal comparison site. With a single code for everybody you don't know who is using it, and you can't shut it down without upsetting the people who deserved it. ShopMagic Customer Coupons Addon generates a different WooCommerce coupon for each customer and sends it by email.
The underlying difference is that the discount stops being a public offer and becomes a gift with a recipient. Each code belongs to one specific person, and that changes both how they perceive it and what you can do if someone abuses it.
Reward the purchase, the review or joining your list
The addon is designed to respond to what the customer does, not to throw out discounts at random. You can send a thank-you coupon after a purchase, when someone leaves a review or when they join your mailing list.
Rewarding right after the action works better than a loose discount, because the customer understands why they receive it. And for the business, it is a way to pay only for behaviors you already want: repeat purchases, opinions or leaving an email address.
It also works well with WooCommerce extensions such as Subscriptions, Memberships or Bookings. That said, to trigger coupons from events in those extensions, ShopMagic has specific add-ons, which are separate.
Prefix, expiry and usage limit on every coupon
Each code is generated as unique and personalized, and you can adjust three things:
- Your own prefix, so the code looks like yours and not a random string.
- The coupon's expiry time.
- The usage limit.
Set an expiry date on everything. A thank-you coupon with no limit ends up as a permanent discount that the customer keeps for whenever it suits them, and a usage limit stops it from being reused over and over.
Without the ShopMagic core, nothing gets sent
This addon does not work on its own: it needs the base ShopMagic plugin and WooCommerce. Here is what it solves and what you need to cover with other pieces:
- The addon solves: creating a unique coupon per customer, with prefix, expiry and usage limit, and delivering it inside an automatic email.
- You cover it with Advanced Filters: deciding by criteria (for example, the order amount) which customers receive the coupon.
- You cover it with Delayed Actions: delaying the send by minutes, hours, days or weeks.
- You cover it with another add-on: asking the customer for the review. This addon rewards the review, but does not request it.
Questions before turning on the coupons
Do all customers receive the same code?
No. A unique, personalized coupon is generated for each customer.
Can I run on this addon alone?
No. You need the ShopMagic core and WooCommerce installed.
Can I choose who receives the coupon?
Yes, with the Advanced Filters add-on, which adds conditional logic to actions, for example based on the order total.
Can I send the coupon a few days after the purchase?
Yes, with the Delayed Actions add-on, which delays the email for as long as you set.
