About Solien – Blog & Shop WordPress Theme
The article ends and the reader decides whether to stay
You spend hours writing a post, someone reads it to the end and then closes the tab. The text did its job, but nobody showed them what else is there. The time a blog gains with each reader is decided by what appears around the article.
Solien, by MontaukCo, is a clean theme for blogs with a template focused on content. Its interest lies in those surroundings: who writes, what was published recently, where else to follow the author and how to get back to the menu without scrolling up the whole page. They are small pieces, which is why it is worth deciding where each one goes.
What surrounds each post
- AboutMe widget: introduces the person who writes.
- Latest Posts widget: shows recent posts.
- Social, Twitter and Instagram widgets: lead to your networks.
- Instagram in the footer: items from that network at the end of the page.
- Sticky navigation: the menu stays at hand during reading.
- Social icons: with Font Awesome and Line Awesome available.
- Contact Form 7: to receive messages on your contact page.
Classic, grid or masonry, and adjustments in the Customizer
The blog can be presented in classic layout, grid or masonry. A posts slider puts forward whatever you want to highlight, and the theme distinguishes standard, sticky and featured posts.
That distinction helps separate what stays relevant from what is newest. A guide that is still useful can stay sticky or featured, while new posts come in through the listing. Try each layout with your own images before deciding.
For pages that are not posts, such as an introduction or a collection of links, there is a full-width template.
The theme options live in the WordPress Customizer, where you find many color options and can show or hide most elements. The latter is useful in a reading theme: if a detail on the post gives you nothing, you remove it without touching code.
For laying out pages by dragging it supports Visual Composer, and the demo installs in one click. The design is responsive and the theme is translation ready.
More blog than shop
Solien presents itself as a blog and shop theme, but its features concentrate on the editorial side. They do not include catalog filters or other sales tools, so test the shop side if selling is your priority.
The contact form also stays outside the theme: it comes from Contact Form 7, which is installed separately.
A start with the content up front
Solien is a WordPress theme and installs like any other. So that the widgets have something to show, it is worth following this order:
- Install and activate the theme, and import the demo if you want to start from it.
- Choose between classic layout, grid or masonry using your own images.
- Publish several real posts and mark the ones that should be featured.
- Place the AboutMe and Latest Posts widgets where you want them to appear.
- Install Contact Form 7 and create your contact page.
- Adjust colors and hide what you do not use in the Customizer.
Blogs with another builder or with a shop
For a personal blog that wants to choose its builder, Lemars supports Elementor, WPBakery and the block editor. You can also compare Morvarid, another blog and shop theme, and Gillion.
