A recipe without structure doesn't exist for Google or Pinterest
People who publish recipes usually write the text with care and forget what the search engine reads: times lost in a paragraph, ingredients mixed with the steps, calories with no format. The result is a recipe a person understands, but Google and Pinterest can't classify. And on a cooking blog, that classification decides whether you show up with a photo, a time and a rating or as just another grey link.
Total Recipe Generator is an Elementor addon that turns each recipe into a widget with ordered fields and generates the Recipe markup behind the scenes, in both microdata and JSON LD. It also supports Pinterest rich pins.
Total Recipe Generator: recipe fields you fill in by dragging
It works as an Elementor widget and is suitable for pages, posts and public custom post types. It includes recipe templates to import, so you don't start from an empty page.
- Recipe data: prep time, cook time, yield, total cost, serving size and cost per serving. Total time is calculated automatically and shown in minutes and hours.
- Ingredients: as single items or in groups (for example, dough and filling), with groups reorderable by dragging.
- Method: unlimited steps, reorderable, groupable and with automatic numbering that you can turn off.
- Image: the one from the post or one from the media library, with resizing and cropping to the size you set.
- Internal links: if a category or tag exists with the same name as a recipe data item, the link is created automatically.
Nutrition facts with a real label and % daily value
This is what many cooking blogs miss most: a nutrition label that looks like a label, not a line of text. The built-in creator offers 4 styles and around 40 nutrients with their reference daily values. Only the nutrients you give a value to are shown, and the percentage is calculated from what you enter.
Note: you enter the nutrition numbers yourself. The plugin does not analyze ingredients or calculate calories on its own, so if you publish health or diet data, make sure it is properly calculated. There is also a multi-select list to indicate which diets the recipe suits.
It also includes sharing buttons (Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp, LinkedIn, Pinterest, VKontakte, email and Reddit), a print button that outputs only the recipe, and ad spots per post or globally.
Elementor is required, and other questions before you choose it
Decide based on your site: if you already work with Elementor, it fits well. If you use another builder or the block editor, this isn't your plugin, because it only exists as an Elementor addon (the free or paid version both work).
Does it work with the free version of Elementor?
Yes, it works with both the free and the paid version.
Does it show star ratings?
It doesn't create them itself. The aggregate rating markup relies on the WP Review or Rate my Post plugins.
Can I hide the title or image if my theme already shows them?
Yes. You can hide name, summary, image, author or date, and that data stays included as metadata for SEO.
Can I customize the design?
Yes: if you are a developer, you can copy the template file into your theme folder and modify it. It supports right-to-left languages and includes translation files.
Are the demo photos included?
No, the demo images are for illustration only and are not included.
