About Latepoint Payments Paystack Addon

Your test booking only proves that the test works

You paste the Paystack keys into LatePoint, make a booking with test details and everything goes well. You publish the schedule. The first real customer books, but that payment cannot arrive: the site is still using the test environment keys.

Paystack has two environments with different keys, so connecting it is a job done twice: once to check and once to get paid. The second step also depends on something outside WordPress: you can only move to live mode once your Paystack account is activated.

Payments Paystack is the addon with which LatePoint, the appointment plugin for WordPress, accepts payments through that gateway. It is worth planning the move to live as a task of its own within the launch, with its own check.

Paystack as a processor inside LatePoint

  • Paystack as a payment processor: once the addon is active, it appears in the LatePoint payment settings.
  • Public and secret keys: stored in those payment settings, for the environment you are configuring.
  • Webhook URL: LatePoint shows it so you can paste it into Paystack.
  • Invoice payments: the addon supports paying invoices through Paystack.

Two moments to collect: at booking and afterwards

The direct case is payment during booking. LatePoint lets you request the full amount, a part or a deposit, and deposits are available on all its plans. If you also offer Pay Later, the order stays unpaid until you collect that money yourself.

The second moment comes with LatePoint Pro. Its invoices are generated automatically and you can send a payment request in one click. Those requests go out by email or text message, and the customer reviews the charges and pays online.

In both cases, LatePoint keeps the transaction record per customer and the status of each invoice in one dashboard.

Three answers that depend on your Paystack account

The addon connects two systems, and several answers depend on the Paystack side. The most important are these:

  • Activation: without an activated account there is no live mode, however well LatePoint is set up.
  • Countries and currencies: check in your Paystack dashboard what your account supports before setting prices on the schedule.
  • Refunds: in LatePoint they require Pro and depend on the processor supporting them. Test this case before promising it in your terms.

It is not a standalone product either. It is a LatePoint addon and needs the base plugin active. Paystack is one of the gateways LatePoint Pro adds, and Pro also brings the invoices.

Connecting in two rounds

Install the addon with LatePoint active and follow this order:

  1. In Paystack, open Settings, API Keys & Webhooks, and copy the test Secret and Public keys.
  2. Paste them into the Paystack payment settings in LatePoint and enable the processor.
  3. Copy the Webhook URL from LatePoint and paste it into the Paystack webhook setting, so Paystack can notify your server of successful transactions.
  4. Make a complete booking with Paystack's test payment details.
  5. Once the account is activated, repeat the copy with the keys from the Live Mode section and check that the webhook still points to the URL LatePoint shows.

More gateways for the same schedule

If your customers are outside Paystack's markets, LatePoint has other payment addons: PayPal, Mercado Pago and Square. If you already take payments with WooCommerce, check WooCommerce for LatePoint.

Invoices and payment requests depend on LatePoint Pro, and the base is LatePoint.

Paystack and LatePoint: specific cases

Where do I find the keys?

In the Paystack dashboard, under Settings, API Keys & Webhooks, with one section for Test Mode and another for Live Mode.

What is the webhook for?

It is the link on your server to which Paystack sends information on successful transactions.

Can I test without real money?

Yes, with Test Mode and Paystack's test payment details.

Why can't I switch to Live Mode?

That switch is only available once your Paystack account has been activated.

Can I collect just a deposit?

LatePoint lets you request full payments, partial payments or deposits.

Does it work without LatePoint?

No. It is an addon and needs LatePoint installed and active.
