About Twist Product Gallery Slider for WooCommerce

The variation mode decides how you upload your photos

You sell a backpack in several colors and have photos of each. You can put them all in the product gallery or split them by variation, but each Twist mode asks for a different setup: classic wants variations with no additional images.

Twist Product Gallery Slider replaces the product page gallery with a slider and lets you assign unlimited additional images to each variation, so the set changes when the choice changes.

Two behaviors that need photos prepared differently

Each mode works with a different arrangement:

  • Default mode: the variation image replaces the featured image and the first thumbnail.
  • Classic mode: the slider moves to the image matching the variation. All variation images must be in the main gallery, and variations carry no additional images.

Gallery controls on the product page

  • Layout: horizontal or vertical, with arrows, icons, dots and three predefined dot navigation themes.
  • Lightbox: fullscreen view with Fancybox, with zoom, thumbnails and automatic playback.
  • Image zoom and captions on the slides.
  • Video in the gallery: YouTube, Vimeo and self-hosted files.
  • Autoplay, lazy loading and image sizes predefined or custom.
  • Right-to-left languages and a layout that adapts to tablets and phones.

Video is added from the media library: you open the image, paste the address into the video field and it is attached to that image. On YouTube it must be the full address, because short youtu.be links do not work.

Two settings that prevent visible problems

Blurry photos. The slider uses the WooCommerce single image size by default, and below 600 px images may look blurry. You fix it by raising the size in the advanced options. Since a larger image can slow the page, it is worth enabling lazy loading and using an optimizer.

Layout shifts on mobile. If the page has a high CLS, you fix it by setting the gallery height with CSS, in the custom CSS field of the advanced settings.

Themes with their own gallery, and getting started

The plugin replaces the gallery from a hook in the standard product template, so a theme with its own gallery can interfere. Porto, Enfold and Themify are solved with theme settings. Stockholm and MF Multipurpose need a child theme. Fey requires extra CSS. On a product template built with Divi, Elementor or Beaver Builder, you use the [product_gallery_slider] shortcode.

Its features do not include color swatches for choosing the variation, nor 360-degree spins.

You need WooCommerce active and a theme that uses the default product template, or the shortcode if you build it with a visual editor. To get started:

  1. Activate the plugin and open a product page to confirm the slider appears.
  2. Choose the variation behavior that fits your photos.
  3. Edit a variation from Product Data and use Add Images.
  4. Save the variation changes and update the product.
  5. Check sharpness and layout shifts on a real phone.

Catalog add-ons for that same page

To choose with swatches instead of dropdowns, XT WooCommerce Variation Swatches offers color, image and label. WooCommerce 360º Image builds a rotation from gallery photos. And Product Video for WooCommerce is dedicated to product video. If you combine any of them with Twist, test the complete page first, since several act on the same area.

Six answers on variations, video and builders

How many images can each variation have?

There is no limit: additional images per variation are unlimited.

Must variation photos go in the main gallery?

In classic mode, yes. That mode depends on them being there.

Why do my images look blurry?

It can happen if the size is below 600 px. You adjust it in the plugin's advanced options.

Can I use it with Elementor or Divi?

Yes. In Divi there is an option in the advanced settings, and custom templates use the shortcode.

Which videos does it support?

YouTube, Vimeo and files hosted on your own site.

Does it work with WPML?

Yes. The twist_video_url field is copied and wavi_value is translated if the images change by language.
