About UsersWP - MailChimp

Your newsletter grows through a checkbox, not through every new account

Your site has two doors through which someone leaves you their email: creating an account and filling in a subscription form. People who come in through one and through the other arrive with different intentions, but when it is time to send a newsletter you want them all in your Mailchimp list.

With this add-on, someone who registers goes to Mailchimp when they tick the subscribe checkbox, so creating the account and joining the newsletter are two decisions by the same person.

MailChimp Add-on for UsersWP captures subscribers during registration. It adds a checkbox to the UsersWP register form and also offers a subscribe form you can place anywhere. That is why it pays to take care with how you present that checkbox at registration, because how many new accounts reach your list depends on it.

A checkbox at registration and a form wherever you want

  • Subscribe checkbox at registration: it appears as Subscribe to our newsletter on the register form. People who tick it are subscribed through Mailchimp.
  • Subscribe form: you place it anywhere on the site with the UWP_Mailchimp Gutenberg block, a widget or the [uwp_mailchimp] shortcode.
  • Target audience: the Audience ID tells which Mailchimp list users join.
  • Translation: it is built to be fully translated.

The checkbox at registration and a newsletter page

You can leave the checkbox at registration and also put the shortcode on a newsletter page. This is a starting proposal; adapt it to what you need.

Where the add-on ends

  • Among its functions there is no choosing a different list for each entry channel.
  • Its job is capturing subscribers. Creating campaigns and sending them is done in Mailchimp.
  • It needs a Mailchimp account with its API key and the Audience ID.

How to connect it to Mailchimp

You need UsersWP installed and a Mailchimp account with its API key and your Audience ID.

  1. Install and activate the add-on.
  2. Open its settings page in UsersWP, Addons, Mailchimp.
  3. Enter your Mailchimp API key.
  4. Enter your Audience ID.
  5. The checkbox appears on the register form. To show a standalone form, add the block, the widget or the shortcode where you want it.

Alternatives for sending subscribers to Mailchimp

If your forms are WPForms, there is WPForms Mailchimp Addon. If you want a general Mailchimp integration for WordPress, you have Mailchimp for WordPress Premium. For stores with memberships, Mailchimp for WooCommerce Memberships.
