A Friday to Sunday booking is two nights, not three days

Your property has one rate for weekdays and another for the weekend. A guest arrives on Friday and leaves on Sunday, and you have to decide what to charge without Sunday counting by mistake. The calendar of a business that sells days and one that sells nights are not read the same way.

A stay from Friday to Sunday is charged as two nights, and Sunday night is not one of them.

WooCommerce Accommodation Bookings is an extension of WooCommerce Bookings that adds the Accommodation product type. Duration is expressed as a number of nights and the price is calculated per night, with special rates for weekends or notable dates.

What it adds to WooCommerce Bookings

• Stays in nights: the product measures duration as a number of nights, with a minimum and a maximum you set on each product.
• Check-in and check-out: the times are defined for the whole site and shown to the guest with their booking details.
• Rooms: you indicate how many identical spaces the product represents and configure their availability.
• Nightly rate: a standard rate and special ranges for certain nights, months, weeks or days of the week. The last night of the range is included.
• Extras: it works alongside Product Add-Ons to offer optional services.
• Payment: it supports any payment gateway compatible with WooCommerce, including WooPayments. To charge a deposit that holds the stay you need WooCommerce Deposits, an additional extension.

A weekend range to test with your own dates

Create a product with its standard rate and add a special range from Friday to Saturday. The range field takes the full price of each night, not a surcharge on top of the standard rate. Then make a test booking from Friday to Sunday: you should see two nights at the range price, with Sunday left out of the calculation.

Check it in your own store: the cart total can also include taxes and extras. The Display cost field changes the starting price shown, not the price charged for the stay, so leave it empty if you want it calculated from your rates.

Which bookings it suits and what it needs

• It does not work on its own: it needs WooCommerce Bookings installed and active.
• It is designed for bookings by the night. For appointments, classes, tours or hourly rentals it is not the right product.
• Changing a rate does not close dates. To block a period you use the product's availability rules.

How to set up your first property

You need WordPress with WooCommerce and the WooCommerce Bookings extension active. With that in place, the order is this:

1. Install and activate WooCommerce Accommodation Bookings from the plugin installer.
2. Check that the Accommodation product type appears when you create a product and that Bookings, under Settings, has an Accommodation tab. If either is missing, make sure both extensions are active.
3. On that tab, define the site's check-in and check-out times.
4. Create a product of type Accommodation. If it needs no shipping, tick Virtual. Set the minimum and maximum nights, the number of rooms under Availability and the nightly rate under Rates.
5. Add the special ranges, publish the product and make a test booking up to the cart to review nights, dates, times and total.
