About WooCommerce Box Office

WooCommerce Box Office: tickets sold in your store, not in someone else's

Selling tickets for a concert, a conference or a charity dinner on an external platform solves the sale, but leaves you without the most valuable part: knowing who is coming, with what details and how to contact them afterwards. WooCommerce Box Office turns a product in your store into a ticket, so the customer registers, pays and receives their ticket through your usual checkout.

There is something first-time organizers discover late: the buyer is not always the attendee. If someone buys four tickets, you need the details of all four people, not just the one who paid. The plugin lets you add custom fields to each ticket's form (required or optional, dropdowns, radio buttons or checkboxes), auto-fill some of them from billing details and let each ticket-holder manage their own information.

General, VIP and early-bird tickets, each with its own stock

An event rarely sells a single ticket type. You can create as many types as you need, each with its own price, benefits and private content, and control the inventory of each one separately:

  • Limits per ticket: you set how many you sell of each type and avoid selling more than the venue allows.
  • Attendee list: search by name, ticket ID, email or company.
  • Printable tickets: you can add, remove and reorder fields and labels in the design, and decide whether the ticket-holder can print it.

The list can also be exported to CSV by ticket type, with your fields, the ticket status and the purchase date. It works for check-in lists or for taking the contacts to your newsletter tool.

Webinars, streaming and coupons for sponsors

A ticket can also open a digital door: a private webinar, the live broadcast or downloads after the event, visible only to people who hold a ticket. For that access control it works together with Groups.

For communication, you can customize the email the buyer receives and send bulk messages to the holders of a specific ticket product, useful for notices and reminders. And since it relies on WooCommerce coupons, you can give discount codes to partners or sponsors to help you sell and check how each code is used from your dashboard.

Box Office or Bookings? It depends on whether you sell tickets or time

Box Office is built for one-off or occasional events with stand-alone tickets. If what you sell is appointments, rooms, rentals or time slots, WooCommerce Bookings is a better fit. And of course, it needs a store running WooCommerce.

Can I scan tickets at the door?

Only with an additional extension: WooCommerce Order Barcodes, which is purchased separately. With it, each ticket carries a unique scannable barcode and a form lets you look up the ticket-holder and mark them as attended. Without it, tickets do not include a barcode.

Does it work for recurring events on a schedule?

It is not designed to manage recurring events on a calendar. If time and availability are central to what you sell, choose a booking tool.

Does it stop me from selling more tickets than fit?

Yes, by setting a limit per ticket type. General and premium tickets are controlled separately even when they belong to the same event.

Can I book appointments or rooms with it?

No. It sells tickets, not reserved time; for appointments, rooms or rentals you need Bookings.
