About WooCommerce Catalog Visibility Options
A store that shows products but does not charge online
Many businesses have a catalog to sell but no online sales: machinery, made-to-order products, wholesale distribution, parts quoted by phone. Setting up a separate catalog theme is a detour, and leaving the WooCommerce cart in view only generates orders nobody wants to process. WooCommerce Catalog Visibility Options fixes that mismatch: it lets you remove the buying side and keep the showcase.
There is a truth that often goes unnoticed in this kind of business: price is a commercial decision, not a technical detail. Anyone selling to distributors, wholesalers or under minimum advertised price (MAP) rules does not want every visitor to see the number, and this plugin treats price as something you control.
What you can hide and what to show instead
The plugin acts on these elements of the product page:
- Prices: hide them from everyone or show them only to logged-in users.
- Shopping cart: turn off the eCommerce functionality so WooCommerce behaves like a catalog.
- Add to cart button: remove it or replace it with alternative content.
When the price or the button disappears, you can put a message in its place. That is the natural spot for a "Request a quote", a "Log in to see prices" or a phone number. That replacement text is what turns an empty gap into an invitation to get in touch.
From catalog to store with a single switch
The advantage of doing this on WooCommerce rather than with another tool is that your products, categories and product pages are already where they should be. The day you want to sell online, you turn the eCommerce functionality back on and the store works like a normal one, with nothing to migrate.
You can also restrict the store to authenticated users, which is useful for a professional customer area. It is also compatible with the WooCommerce cart and checkout blocks and with high performance order storage (HPOS).
Decide whether login alone is enough as your only filter
Before installing, think about how you segment your customers. The plugin distinguishes between logged-in and logged-out users. One buyer review missed something finer: being able to tell users apart by role. If you need one price for retailers, another for wholesalers and none for visitors, that granularity is not what it offers; for rates by customer type you will need another tool.
Does it turn WooCommerce into a quote website?
It does not include a quote form. You hide the price and the button and set an alternative message; to collect requests you will have to link to a contact page or use the form you already have.
Can I hide only some products?
One user used it to hide products from people without a special account. Check in the demo how far control per product or category goes in your case.
Does it help comply with a minimum advertised price policy?
Yes, hiding prices is one of the functions designed for that case. You should check each brand's specific conditions yourself.
Can I go back to selling online later?
Yes, you just need to turn the eCommerce functionality you had disabled back on.
