About WooCommerce Product Reviews Pro
A four-line review won't convince a shopper who is unsure
Someone landing on a product page with doubts isn't looking for more catalog photos: they want someone like them who already bought it. And the native WooCommerce reviews fall short: text and stars, mixed in with blog comments, with no filters and no way to tell which opinion is the most useful.
In a store, a review is content written by the customer that answers the exact objections of other buyers. If you don't give customers tools to be specific (size, comfort, real photos), you'll get empty phrases like "very good".
Product Reviews Pro: reviews with rating questions, photos and video
This plugin extends the WooCommerce review system. The most useful parts in practice:
- Review qualifiers: dropdown questions about the product (for example, how does it fit or is it comfortable). Their answers are shown alongside the review.
- Photos and videos: the customer attaches files to a review, or you can enable photos and videos as standalone contributions, without a rating.
- Questions and comments: each contribution type is enabled separately, and you can allow comments on them.
- One review per customer and product: instead of piling up duplicates, the customer is asked to edit the earlier one (tied to their login email).
- Helpfulness votes: up and down, so you can sort by the most helpful reviews or the most recent.
- Star filter: the buyer sees, for example, only the 4-star reviews.
- Flagging reviews: users can flag the ones they think should be moderated.
- Official badges: to mark replies from administrators or staff.
In addition, a dedicated review list in the admin separates them from blog comments, and customers get "My contributions" in My Account. A minimum review threshold per product can also be set before reviews are shown, and the plugin includes JSON-LD structured data for rich snippets in search engines.
What to know beforehand
Social login buttons in reviews only appear if you also have WooCommerce Social Login. Letting vendors manage their own reviews requires Product Vendors. And the plugin doesn't generate reviews or request them by email: if your problem is that nobody leaves feedback, this improves how people review, not how many do.
Questions from shoppers comparing it with the default reviews
Can the customer follow a conversation?
Yes. They can "watch" a thread, their own or someone else's, and get an email when a comment is added. By default WooCommerce doesn't notify anyone of replies.
Can I show the most helpful reviews first?
Yes. You choose the default order (most recent or most helpful), and customers can sort and filter on their own.
Can I turn off photos or questions?
Yes, each contribution type is enabled or disabled separately.
Do I lose the reviews I already have?
No: the earlier ones appear in the new review list inside the WooCommerce menu.
Negative reviews stay, and that is by design
The plugin shows both positive and negative reviews, and customers can compare them. If your idea was to hide criticism, this isn't the plugin. If you want a critique with a photo and an official reply from your team to convince more than five stars with no text, it is. Replies with a staff badge help them come across as real customer care.
First decide which qualifiers each type of product needs
Setup is simple: you enable the contribution types and create qualifiers if you want them. The real work is a matter of judgment: questions that are useful for clothing (fit, comfort) don't work for software or furniture. Start with a few qualifiers, test them on one product page and, before publishing, check in the demo how they look with your theme.
