About WooCommerce Table Rate Shipping [CodeCanyon]

When the carrier charges by volume and you charge by weight

A flat shipping rate works until you sell something that weighs little but takes up a lot of space, or something small that gets very expensive to ship to certain destinations. Then every order costs you money or scares the customer off with a disproportionate shipping cost.

Anyone setting up a store with a varied catalog usually finds this out late: shipping is not a single order value, it is the sum of decisions about each product. WooCommerce Table Rate Shipping lets you turn those decisions into rules. It includes a volumetric weight calculator based on DIM factors.

About twenty cost formulas in WooCommerce Table Rate Shipping

You can create unlimited shipping methods and rates, and each cost can come from a different formula:

  • Per order: a fixed amount, per shipping class, per category, per tag, or a percentage of the package total.
  • Per item: per line item, per unit, per product, per variation, or a percentage per item.
  • By weight, with a cost per weight unit or multiplied by the weight of the items.
  • By length, width or height, with the same logic.
  • By surface area and by volume, also per unit or multiplied.

You can also group the package items by unit, category or shipping class and charge each group according to its own rule. There are also handling fees (or insurance) that are added to the shipping cost or shown as a separate charge in the cart, with no limit on how many you create.

Rules that look at the product, the customer and the calendar

More than 35 product rules filter which items go into a rate: specific products or variations, category, tag, attribute, price with or without tax, discounted price, quantity in the package, weight, dimensions, stock, whether it is on sale, whether it is downloadable, shipping class, meta fields and even the product author in multi-vendor stores.

On top of those, more than 89 conditions decide when each rate applies: shipping and billing country, state, city or postcode, GeoIP location, payment method, applied coupons, cart total, quantities, user role, whether the user is logged in, total spent, last order date, purchase history, day of the week or month of the year.

You can also show several cart notifications based on weight, package totals or shipping cost, and use parameters such as the cost with or without tax to customize the message.

Are rule-based rates enough, or do you need live quotes?

The rates come from rules that you set up yourself, so the work lies in planning your table well before you start. Product weights, dimensions and shipping classes need to be filled in so the rules have data to calculate with. If what you want is for a carrier to quote each shipment live, check in the demo whether this plugin covers that case.

It is compatible with Polylang and with the currency switchers WOOCS and WooCommerce Multi Currency (tested); it has not been tested with WPML. It includes .po and .mo files for translation.

Can I charge differently by postcode?

Yes. Country, state, city and postcode, for both shipping and billing, are among the available conditions.

Does it work if I sell products with variations?

Yes. There are rules and costs per variation, for example a shipping cost per product variation.

Can I add a handling fee or insurance?

Yes. It can be included in the shipping cost or shown as a separate charge in the cart.

Does it work with a multi-currency store?

It is tested with WOOCS and WooCommerce Multi Currency. With other switchers, test it in your store first.
