About WP Adverts - WooCommerce Payments
Your advertiser thinks pressing the button published the ad, but the ad waits for its order
Someone finishes writing an ad, presses Publish and considers the job done. On your site, what happens next is that they land in the WooCommerce cart, and from then on the ad depends on what happens to an order.
With this extension, an ad is activated when its order is marked Completed, so the moment it goes live is set by your order workflow and not by the advertiser's click.
WPAdverts WooCommerce Integration connects the WPAdverts classified ads plugin with WooCommerce so that WooCommerce processes the payment for postings. Each price option is a product in your store, which is why it pays to check which orders reach Completed on their own in your store and which wait for someone to mark them.
Every rate is a WooCommerce product
- Pricing schemes: you create a WooCommerce product for each payment option.
- Packages: the user pays once and posts several ads.
- Redirect to the cart: when the user finishes creating the ad, they go straight to the WooCommerce cart.
- Automatic activation: when the order is marked Completed, the ad becomes active.
- Featured ads: users can pay to post a featured one.
- Status icons: each ad shows whether it is unpaid or abandoned.
- Management from the WooCommerce user panel: advertisers manage their ads from there.
An advertiser who does not complete payment
Picture the journey of someone who writes the ad, reaches the cart and leaves. In that case the ad is not activated, because its order never reaches Completed, and the status icons let you tell unpaid ads from abandoned ones. Use it as a guide and change it where your case calls for it.
If you also use the WPAdverts Custom Fields extension, you can assign different prices to different versions of the [adverts_add] form. One version can offer, for example, more images or longer descriptions.
Three things the extension leaves out
- Among its functions there is no payment method of its own: the charge is handled by the methods you have in WooCommerce.
- Different prices per form version require the Custom Fields extension.
- It does not replace the WPAdverts plugin: it is an extension that builds on it.
How to set it up
You need WordPress with WooCommerce and the WPAdverts plugin, plus this extension.
- Install and activate the extension and WooCommerce.
- Go to Products and click Add Product.
- Fill in the product details, choose Single Listing (WPAdverts) in the Product Data dropdown, enter the listing duration and publish.
- Users will see that product as a listing type on the posting form.
- When they click Publish Listing, the user goes to the cart to pay. When the payment becomes Completed, the ad is approved and published.
Alternatives for charging to post
If your catalog is downloads rather than ads, Frontend Submissions lets users register as vendors and manage their products from their own dashboard, with review processes. For a business directory there is Directorist WooCommerce Pricing Plans.
