About WP Manga Chapter Images Protection
Stop your chapter pages being downloaded in one click
A manga or novel site lives on content that, served as-is, is trivially copyable: they are images on a web page. Right-click and save, or let a crawler walk the site and carry off whole chapters in minutes. A few weeks later your material is on three aggregators that never paid for it and that now outrank you in Google.
This plugin attacks the problem where it actually happens: in how the images are delivered to the browser.
What it does
- Blocks direct saving: visitors cannot use the browser's "Save as" on chapter images.
- Encrypts the image URLs and refreshes them on every load, so a crawler cannot keep a stable address and come back for it later.
- Cuts off automated extraction: with no fixed or predictable URL, bots walking the site are left without the link they need to download.
That is where it differs from the usual answers. Disabling right-click is cosmetic and anyone gets around it by opening the browser tools. Encrypting and rotating the image address attacks the mechanism scrapers rely on, which is what actually removes content in volume.
What to realistically expect
No protection is absolute when the content has to reach the reader's eye: a screenshot will always be possible. What changes is the cost of stealing. Going from "a script takes a thousand chapters tonight" to "somebody has to capture page by page by hand" is, in practice, the difference between your catalogue being copied and it not being worth the effort.
That is why it is normally combined with other measures: watermarks, hotlink blocking and a visible copyright notice.
Who it is for
Manga, manhwa, comic and illustrated novel sites that publish chapters as images and live on advertising or subscriptions, which is to say on readers coming to their site rather than somebody else's copy.
Frequently asked questions
Does it completely stop my chapters being copied?
No, and be wary of anything promising that. It stops direct downloading and automated extraction, which is where the bulk of copies come from. A manual screenshot is still possible.
Does it affect loading speed?
Images are served with encrypted addresses that get refreshed, which adds work compared with serving them statically. It is worth testing on a long chapter before applying it to the whole catalogue.
Does the reader notice anything?
They see chapters normally. What they cannot do is save them through the browser menu.
Should I use anything else?
It is advisable. Pairing it with watermarks and hotlink blocking protects better than any single measure on its own.
