About WPC Mystery Box for WooCommerce Premium
Products that don't move and discounts nobody notices anymore
Every catalog has its tail: items that sit in the warehouse while the star products sell out. A surprise box changes the approach: the buyer doesn't judge each item separately, they pay for the expectation of getting something good, and you move stock that would otherwise stay put.
WPC Mystery Box for WooCommerce adds a product type, the Smart Mystery Box, in which you define what can end up in the box without the customer knowing until they open it.
Building a box with WPC Mystery Box, step by step
1. Create the product and open its Mystery box tab
You choose Smart Mystery Box as the product type and everything is configured from that tab. Each box supports unlimited assortments, which you reorder by dragging.
2. Fill each assortment
An assortment is a group of products from which the contents are drawn. In the free version they are added by hand, one by one. In Premium you can pull them in bulk by categories, tags, types (simple, variable, subscription), brands (with WPC Brands for WooCommerce), collections (with WPC Smart Product Collections), attributes, shipping classes or visibility, and exclude the ones you don't want.
3. Decide how many come out and in what order
You set how many products are picked and how many units of each: for example, 3 products of 2 units. Priority can be random, high to low stock, low to high stock, or the order in which you added them. Sorting by highest stock pushes exactly what you have too much of.
4. Plan for what happens when stock runs short
Each assortment has a necessary level:
- Normal: if there aren't enough units, the assortment is skipped and hidden.
- Required: if it isn't met, the whole box can no longer be purchased.
- Lucky: it doesn't depend on stock and may or may not enter the box at random.
Careful: a required assortment with an almost sold-out item blocks the whole box.
5. Adjust what the customer sees
You can show the list above or under the Add to Cart button, or hide it if you want a total surprise. You also choose whether image, quantity, availability and price are shown, whether each product links to its page (in the same tab, in a new one or in a Quick View), and you customize the displayed price with text before or after it.
Questions before launching your first box
Can I limit how it is paid for or what it is bought with?
Yes: you can prevent the box from being bought alongside other products and restrict some payment methods at checkout.
Does the customer see the contents in the order?
You decide whether the assortment products appear or not in the order details and confirmation.
Can it be translated?
It has a localization tab for translating texts and phrases.
Is the free version enough?
To test the idea, yes, but loading many items by hand becomes tedious. Bulk sources are exclusive to Premium.
What to know about WPC Mystery Box before selling with it
The plugin doesn't calculate for you whether the box leaves a margin: the price and the mix of items are up to you. If you combine a star product with several slow sellers, check that even the worst possible contents don't lose you money. It is also not a prize-draw system; it is a WooCommerce product whose contents are chosen from the assortments you configure.
