About WPC Price by User Role for WooCommerce
One catalog for the wholesaler and the walk-in customer
Anyone selling to both wholesalers and the public usually ends up with two bad solutions: duplicating products with different prices or handing out coupons that anyone can forward. On top of that, the wholesale rate is sensitive commercial information, and in an open store it is easy for it to end up in front of the wrong people.
WPC Price by User Role for WooCommerce solves this by changing the price shown according to the role of whoever is browsing: administrator, shop manager, wholesaler, customer, subscriber. The product in WooCommerce is the same; what changes is what each group sees.
Global rules by role, with a fixed number or a percentage
You go to the WPClever menu, open Price by User Role, pick a role from the dropdown and click the button to set it up. The regular price and sale price boxes appear. The rule applies to all products in the store and to all users with that role.
- Number: a new fixed price, as the regular price, as the sale price or both.
- Percentage: a percentage of the original price, applied dynamically. It is the recommended option for global rules, because it adapts to each product.
- Empty box or 100%: the original price stays as it is.
It can also raise prices, and the sale format has a catch
This is not just a discount plugin: the new regular price can be higher or lower than the current one. That said, the regular price must always be higher than the sale price. With a $19 product and a role set to 97% in the sale box, that role will see the original price next to the sale price ($19.00 and $18.43), 3% less.
There are two common traps. If you type 97% in the regular price box, it does not count as a discount and the sale format does not appear. And if you enter 29 as the sale price on a $19 product, only $29.00 is shown without the sale format; to make it work, raise the regular price too, for example to 30.
Hide prices and disable the buy button for guests
You can hide prices and the add to cart button for specific roles, or require visitors to log in to see prices. The buy button is disabled for unauthorized guests. It makes sense if your price list is only for registered professionals.
To check what each role sees without opening test accounts, WPClever has another plugin, WPC Shop as a Customer for WooCommerce, which switches roles with one click. It is not required to use this one.
Per-product rules need the Premium version
This is how the work is split:
- Already solved: global rules by role, hiding prices and requiring login.
- Premium version: product-by-product rules, from the Price by User Role tab in the product data, with the Override option.
- Up to you: making sure each user has the right role, which you review under Users, All users.
- Up to you: deciding the price lists: the plugin applies rules, it does not suggest them.
If your business needs different prices product by product, check that your version includes that tab.
Frequently asked questions about WPC Price by User Role for WooCommerce
Can I raise the price for a role?

How do I keep the original price for a role?
Leave the boxes empty or enter 100%. The price does not change.
Can I apply a rule to only some products?
Not with global rules: they affect the whole store. For specific products you need the Premium version and its Override option.
