About WPC Shared Stock - Attribute Stock & Group Stock for WooCommerce (Premium)
Sync inventory across independent products in WooCommerce
In WooCommerce, every product and every variation manages its stock as if it were an isolated island. The problem shows up as soon as you sell the same physical item in several forms: a single bottle of wine and that same bottle inside a gift basket, or bulk coffee packed into 250g, 500g and 1kg bags that all come from the same sack. Keeping those inventories in sync manually is a constant source of overselling and errors. WPC Shared Stock solves this by creating shared stock groups across simple products, variable products and global attributes, so that all of them draw from the same real physical quantity.
How stock mapping works in WPC Shared Stock
The plugin offers two ways to link inventory:
- Direct mapping of products and variations: you manually connect specific combinations, such as "Product A" and "Variation B", to the same shared group.
- Dynamic mapping by global attribute: instead of mapping hundreds of variations by hand, you define a rule such as "any product with the attribute Color: Red shares this stock". Any future variation that uses that attribute is automatically added to the group, with no extra setup required.
Custom consumption ratios
Not every product consumes stock at the same rate. WPC Shared Stock lets you assign a multiplier to each element of the group: an individual item can have a multiplier of 1 (subtracting one unit), while a 6-pack subtracts 6 from the same group, and a wholesale case of 24 units subtracts 24. This makes it possible to accurately represent different selling formats built on the same physical inventory.
Smart availability calculation
The plugin doesn't just copy stock status between products: it calculates the real common denominator. If 5 units remain in the shared group and a customer tries to buy a 6-pack, that pack is automatically marked as out of stock, while the individual product still shows as available. It's also compatible with WooCommerce's backorder system on a per-group basis, and it can send low-stock alerts by email before inventory runs out.
An interface that protects data integrity
Once a product is set to depend on a shared stock group, WooCommerce's native "Manage stock" fields are locked and visually flagged in the admin panel, preventing a member of the team from manually editing a quantity and breaking the sync between products.
Common use cases
- Bulk materials: selling fabric by the meter while also offering ready-made 5-meter curtains cut from the same physical roll.
- Gift baskets and bundles: a holiday basket made up of products that are also sold separately, such as a box of sweets or a bottle of wine.
- Print on demand: 100 white t-shirts in stock used as the base for 50 different designs; all of them are mapped through the "White" attribute to a single group with 100 units available.

Frequently asked questions
Can I share stock between a simple product and a variation?
Yes, direct mapping lets you link any combination of simple products and individual variations to the same shared stock group.
What happens if I sell the same item in different packaging formats?
You can assign a consumption multiplier to each format, so that a single unit subtracts 1 from the shared stock and a multi-unit pack subtracts proportionally more.
Does attribute mapping update automatically with new products?
Yes. Once you set up a dynamic mapping rule on a global attribute, any new variation that uses that attribute is automatically added to the stock group, with no manual configuration needed.
Is it compatible with WooCommerce backorders?
Yes, backorders can be enabled independently for each shared stock group, keeping WooCommerce's standard behavior intact.
Can a product's stock be edited manually once it's linked to a group?
The stock management fields are locked in the admin panel for that product, so the quantity can only be updated through the shared group, preventing inconsistencies.
