About WPC Variations Table for WooCommerce

The dropdown assumes your customer wants a single variation

Someone wants to take several variations of the same product. With the usual selector they pick one, add it to the cart, go back to the dropdown, pick another and repeat. Meanwhile they never see the options together: the price and availability of each one appear only on selecting it.

A dropdown works well for deciding between options and badly for ordering several. If your store sells combinations, each extra variation is another trip through the same form. Comparing is hard too, because the list disappears as soon as it closes.

WPC Variations Table replaces that dropdown on variable products with a table that keeps the variations in view, each with its details, its quantity and its button.

Which columns and controls you can show

  • Details for each variation: price, thumbnail, stock and description, shown or hidden separately.
  • A separate quantity for each variation.
  • Its own Add to Cart button, plus a button to add them all to the cart.
  • Variation name in default format, with attribute labels or without them.
  • Out-of-stock or unpurchasable variations: these can be shown or hidden.

When the list of variations gets long

A table with few rows reads itself. With many, you need order, and there are several ways to get it here:

  • Scrolling vertically or horizontally inside the table.
  • DataTables layout, with pagination and a text search filter.
  • Order by and Order options to decide how variations are sorted.
  • One attribute in the dropdown: you can choose which one stays there.

It also works with attributes set to Any, and it accepts text before and after the table.

What stays outside the table

It does not create variations. It works with the variable products you already have in WooCommerce, so attributes, prices and stock are still managed there.

Per-product control belongs to the Premium version. With it, each product page can override the general settings, for instance turning the separate quantity and button on or off for a single product.

If your site adds to cart through AJAX, it also needs WPC AJAX Add to Cart. It is also compatible with WPC Added to Cart Notification.

It is not a table catalog either. It shows the variations of one product, on its page or wherever you place the [wpcvt] shortcode. A list of several different products falls outside what it does.

Getting it running in your store

It requires WooCommerce installed. With that ready:

  1. Install and activate the plugin.
  2. Go to WPClever > Variations Table and turn the table on for variable products.
  3. Decide which details to show and whether you want separate quantity and buttons.
  4. Open one product with many variations and one with few, and buy a combination from a phone.
  5. If you run several stores, use settings import and export to repeat the setup.

Other ways to present variations

If your customer buys a single option and you only want to avoid the dropdown, WPC Variations Radio Buttons swaps it for radio buttons, from the same maker. To compare other tables in the catalog, see Product Variations Table for WooCommerce and WooCommerce Variations Table.

The variations table in practice

Can I show the table outside the product page?

Can I use the table on some products only?

Per-product configuration belongs to the Premium version.

Does it work with translations and right-to-left sites?
