A T-shirt arrives in a box, with your brand and a certain ritual. A gift card arrives as one message among the others in the inbox, and whoever opens it may never have bought from you. If it looks like an automatic order notice, a gift someone really paid for comes across as paperwork.

There is no wrapping here: the email is the only thing the person receives from you. It is the gift paper and also your shop's first impression on someone who does not know you yet.

This add-on brings that piece into the same editor you use to design the rest of the shop's emails.

PW Gift Cards templates, inside YayMail

What that email should say

The recipient may know nothing about you or about how a gift card works in an online shop. Three facts from the gift card plugin itself help you write a message that explains itself:

• Who sent it: the buyer enters the recipient's address and a personal message. That message deserves more prominence than your logo.
• How to use it: the code is entered in the cart or at checkout, and the link in the email adds the card to the cart automatically. A visible button with that link saves explaining the code.
• What is not needed: the card is not tied to a specific account, so whoever receives it does not have to register to spend it. It is worth saying so in the message.

The email changes; the cards stay with PW

It does not create or sell gift cards. PW WooCommerce Gift Cards does that. Without that plugin, this add-on has nothing to edit.

It does not add features to the cards. Scheduled delivery, PDF cards, QR codes and expiry dates are features of the PW Pro version, not of this add-on.

It does not work with other gift card plugins. It is made for PW Gift Cards; cards from another plugin need another solution.

The four pieces and the order to set them up

Four plugins are needed: WooCommerce, YayMail in its free or Pro version, PW WooCommerce Gift Cards and this add-on. With all of them in the shop, the path is this:

1. Set up the cards first in PW Gift Cards: where they are redeemed and whether they use the WooCommerce transactional email system.
2. Install and activate YayMail, then this add-on.
3. Open the PW Gift Cards template in the YayMail interface.
4. Design the message, use the PW Gift Cards shortcodes for the card details and send yourself a test email.
5. Enable and save the template.

The catalogue version is 1.3, so test the set on a copy of the shop with your current versions of YayMail and PW.

No. It customises the templates that plugin generates.

They are YayMail tools, not features of this add-on. Recommended products belong to its Premium conditional logic, outside the free version.

Can it schedule the send date?

No. Scheduled delivery is a PW Gift Cards Pro feature.

Can I test the email before it goes out?

Yes. YayMail sends a test email with one click.
