About YITH Google Product Feed Premium
Having your catalog in WooCommerce and not appearing on Google Shopping usually means filling in a product file by hand with columns nobody remembers. YITH Google Product Feed Premium solves the technical part: it creates, from WooCommerce, the file Google Merchant needs.
Google reads a file, it doesn't look at your store
Online sellers often assume Google "sees" their website. On Shopping that is not how it works: Google relies on what arrives in the feed. If the title, brand or category are wrong in that file, the product won't display as it should, even if your WooCommerce listing is perfect. That is why the feed should be treated as a separate storefront that also needs care.
How YITH Google Product Feed Premium works day to day
First you create your Google Merchant account. Then, with the plugin, you generate the file with the products you choose. These are the features that matter:
- Unlimited feeds: create as many as you need, for example one per product line.
- Product selection: include the whole catalog or only what belongs to a category or tag.
- .xml and/or .txt format: generate the file in the format you prefer.
- Your own templates: decide which Google fields are shown and what information each one carries.
- Custom fields: link a custom field of your products to a Google attribute, to send data WooCommerce doesn't include by default.
- Prefix and suffix: add text before or after the information in a field.
- General and per-product values: give the same value to all products and override it on a simple product or a specific variation.
Two optional integrations, and no shortcuts
If you use YITH WooCommerce Brands Add-On, the brands assigned to each product are exported to the file without filling them in by hand. With YITH WooCommerce EU Energy Label, the same happens with energy labels. Neither is included: they must be installed separately.
What the plugin doesn't do
It doesn't open or approve your Google Merchant account: you do that beforehand. It doesn't write better titles or descriptions either: if your listings are weak, the feed will send them weak. And for multilingual sites, the compatibility is with WPML.
Frequently asked questions before you decide
Do I need a Google Merchant account?
Yes. The plugin generates the file, but Google receives it through your Merchant account.
Does the feed update when I change a product?
It depends on how you use it: with the feed URL or with a generated file. Check the documentation to see how each option behaves.
Can I send only part of the store?
Yes, by filtering by category or tag, and you can create several feeds with different filters.
Does it work for variable products?
Yes, you can override the general values at variation level.
Google fields are set up before the feed goes live
To start on the right foot, organize the work like this: check that your products have their basic data complete, create a template with the Google fields you want to show, define the general values and, only then, fix the products or variations that need a different value. Generate a first feed with a few products and check it in Merchant before opening the whole catalog. If you use custom fields, link them to their Google attribute from the start, so you don't have to review product by product.
