About AI Engine Pro
A public chatbot is an open tap connected to your card
Worth understanding before any feature, because it decides whether the project goes well or ends in a fright. When you put an artificial intelligence assistant on your site, every conversation consumes credit from your account with the model provider. The visitor does not pay for it: you do.
And there is nothing in the chat itself stopping somebody having a hundred conversations in a row, or an automated bot finding the form and using it overnight. The day one of your posts does well on social media, the bill rises with the traffic.
Which is why the genuinely valuable part of AI Engine Pro is not the chat, which anybody does now. It is the usage limits and the statistics.
What it brings
- Configurable chatbots, with several distinct assistants and separate behaviour depending where you place them.
- Content and image generation from the WordPress admin itself.
- Title and excerpt suggestions for posts and pages you have already written.
- Usage statistics, so you can see how much is being spent and on what.
- Usage limits per user and per guest, which is the part that prevents the unpleasant surprise.
It is built mainly around OpenAI, and recent versions also support other model providers.
What separates a useful assistant from a pointless one
A chatbot wired straight to the general model contributes nothing to your site. It answers exactly what ChatGPT would answer in another tab, and the visitor already has that tab open.
What changes the outcome is feeding it your content: your product pages, your documentation, your shipping terms, your frequently asked questions. At that point the assistant stops being decoration and starts answering things only you know, which is exactly the work your inbox does today.
Two honest warnings about that. First: it will still make things up occasionally, and in a shop that means promising a delivery time or a compatibility that does not exist. Worth telling it explicitly to answer "I do not know" rather than guess. Second: if your documentation is disorganised or out of date, the assistant will repeat that with great confidence. The quality of the answers is the quality of what you give it.
Requirements
It needs WordPress and an account with an API key at a model provider. The plugin does not include the model and does not include credit: they are two separate costs, the licence on one side and the usage on the other.
How to start
One. Set a spending cap in the provider's dashboard before touching anything in WordPress. It is the only protection that does not depend on you configuring the plugin correctly.
Two. Start with the assistant for logged-in users only, or on a single page. Opening it to everybody from day one is unnecessary.
Three. Configure the guest limits before making it public, not afterwards.
Four. Check the statistics daily for the first week. That is where you will see whether real consumption resembles what you had calculated, which it almost never does first time.
Alternatives in the catalogue
If yours is a shop and what you want is an assistant that understands orders and products, WoowBot is built specifically for WooCommerce and arrives with that context already solved.
If you do not want chat and what you are after is writing faster, AIKit is a writing assistant built into the editor, and Sage AI goes the same way. They are cheaper to run because you only consume when you write, not when a visitor arrives.
And if the plan is selling artificial intelligence as the product rather than using it on your site, that is something else entirely: MagicAI builds the platform with accounts, plans and per-user consumption.
Frequently asked questions
Does it include the artificial intelligence usage?
No. You supply your own API key and the consumption is paid separately, to the model provider.
How much does it cost to run?
It depends on usage, which is why limits belong in the provider and in the plugin before opening it to the public.
Can it answer about my content?
Yes, and that is what makes it useful. An assistant without your content repeats what any general chat would already say.
Does it make answers up?
Sometimes yes. Worth instructing it to admit when it does not know, especially on delivery times and compatibility.
Is it any good for generating images?
Yes, as well as text it generates images from the admin.
Can I limit who uses it?
Yes, it supports limits per user and per guest, which is the practical protection against abuse.
