About Akola – Organic & Food Store WordPress Theme
Selling food online means selling something the customer can't touch or smell
An organic food store has a problem that a clothing store doesn't: nobody can try the product before buying it. The only things that decide the sale are how the catalog is organized, what gets highlighted and how easy it is to find exactly what someone wants (gluten-free, seasonal, a certain brand). Akola is built for that scenario: a WooCommerce store for food, organic or farm products where category organization matters more than decoration.
What Akola does with your food catalog
The theme is built on Elementor, so you assemble the homepage by dragging blocks instead of touching code. It includes several different homepages, seven headers and eight footers, plus a mega menu builder and a footer builder to set up navigation your way.
- Search with filters: customers can narrow results by category, availability, product condition, brand, price range, size, color and other custom specifications. With a large range, this keeps them from leaving without finding anything.
- Highlighting products: widgets for best sellers, banner sliders with featured or trending products, and banner effects.
- Product page: sticky details while scrolling, a sticky add-to-cart button, video, a 360-degree view, products bought together and variation swatches (color, size, image).
- Fast shopping with Ajax: cart, live search and filters without reloading the page, with grid or list view and infinite loading or a load more button.
- Store extras: wishlist and compare (through the WPC Smart Wishlist and WPC Smart Compare plugins), recently viewed products, trust badges, pre-orders and a notify me alert.
Marketplace with several vendors
It is compatible with MultiVendorX, WC Vendors and Dokan, and none of them is required. Note: what you configure for each vendor is managed inside the vendor plugin, not from the theme options, because each one stores its data separately.
AI management
It includes the Wpbingo AI Commander plugin for WooCommerce. It lets you create or update titles, descriptions, prices, categories, attributes or stock with natural language commands, and it works with OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Groq and OpenRouter. You need your own account with one of those services; it is most useful if you manage many products.
Questions to ask before choosing Akola
Can it be used for something other than food?
Yes, it is described as multipurpose, although the design and demos are geared toward organic and food stores.
Do I need Elementor?
Yes, the layout relies on it, and the theme brings its own shortcodes for Elementor.
Does it support several languages?
It is compatible with WPML and with right-to-left writing.
Is it suitable for restaurant bookings or orders?
It is a WooCommerce store theme. Check in the demo whether there is any menu format; it is not its main purpose.
The demos import with a single click
You can import all the demo content at once, including the mega menu, and start from the homepage that most resembles your store. Since WooCommerce, Elementor and the wishlist and compare plugins must be active for everything to look the same, install them before importing. Then replace the photos and texts with your own: in a food store, the image of each product is the only thing the customer has to decide.
