About AutomatorWP - Jetpack CRM
In your CRM, a tag can be a button
Whoever handles sales lives inside Jetpack CRM. They close a conversation, mark the customer and move on to the next. What comes after depends on someone remembering to do it on another WordPress screen.
The tag is the one thing that person already adds without effort, so it is the best button you can give them. If adding "confirmed customer" to a contact sets off the rest of the work, nobody leaves the customer record. But first you have to settle what each tag means and who adds it.
This add-on connects Jetpack CRM with AutomatorWP. Events in the CRM start automations in other plugins, and what happens in other plugins can change contacts, companies, invoices and quotes in the CRM.
The CRM events that start an automation
Triggers follow the AutomatorWP model: "when this happens". Four appear in the free edition and the rest in the Pro edition.
- Free edition: new company, new contact, tag added to a company and tag added to a contact.
- Pro, new records: new event, invoice, quote or transaction.
- Pro, deletions: company, contact, event, invoice, quote or transaction deleted.
- Pro, tags added: to an invoice, quote or transaction.
- Pro, tags removed: from a company, contact, invoice, quote or transaction.
The company triggers depend on the CRM working with companies, a layer that the B2B extension adds to Jetpack CRM.
What other plugins can change inside the CRM
Actions are the "do this" part, and all of them belong to the Pro edition:
- Contact list: add a user or delete them.
- Contacts and companies: add or remove tags.
- Invoices and quotes: add or remove tags.
One direct use is creating contacts from another system: when someone books in Amelia, they are added to the contact list. Another is marking those who ask for help: when they open a ticket in Awesome Support, they get a tag.
AutomatorWP data tags, also in Pro, give access to contact fields such as email, first name and last name, for use in the actions that follow.
It tags invoices but does not create them
It does not include the CRM. Jetpack CRM is a separate plugin, free on WordPress.org.
It does not create documents. Its actions do not include creating invoices, quotes or transactions. It can tag invoices and quotes that already exist.
Transactions are only a trigger. You can react to a tag set on a transaction, but adding or removing one is not among the actions. The same goes for events: their creation and deletion are detected, with no actions on them.
Minimum versions and first automation
AutomatorWP asks for WordPress 4.4 and PHP 7.0 or later. Jetpack CRM asks for more: WordPress 6.0 and PHP 7.4 or later, so those are the values to take as your minimum.
To start with a small, testable case:
- Install Jetpack CRM and AutomatorWP, then this add-on.
- Choose a CRM tag with a clear meaning, used by whoever handles sales.
- Create an automation with the tag added to a contact trigger.
- Add as the action what is done by hand today after setting that tag.
What it pairs with or compares to in the catalog
AutomatorWP Pro brings AutomatorWP's premium features together in one add-on. With another engine, Uncanny Automator Pro uses trigger and action recipes.
If your CRM is not Jetpack CRM, FluentCRM Pro keeps contacts and campaigns in your own database. And WP Fusion syncs tags, fields and purchases between WordPress and your CRM; first confirm that yours is among the supported ones.
Questions about AutomatorWP and Jetpack CRM together
Do I need Jetpack CRM installed?
Yes. This add-on connects that plugin with AutomatorWP and does not include it. Jetpack CRM is a free download from WordPress.org.
What can be done with the free edition?
Four triggers: new company, new contact and tag added to a company or a contact. Actions on the CRM belong to the Pro edition.
Does it create invoices automatically?
No. It can react to a new invoice or tag it, but creating one is not among its actions.
