About AutomatorWP WooCommerce

Whoever buys without an account also fires your automations, but through another door

Part of your buyers never create an account. If you build your automations thinking of registered users, those purchases go by with nothing happening: no notice, no order note, no coupon.

This integration separates user triggers from guest triggers, so each recipe must say which audience it listens to.

AutomatorWP WooCommerce connects your store with AutomatorWP recipes: a trigger waits for something in the store, and the actions and filters you add decide what happens next. Besides the triggers for users, it has a section of its own for anonymous triggers with thirteen options, among them a guest buying a product, completing a purchase, completing it with a specific total, with a payment method or with a coupon, or the status of their order changing.

The events a recipe hears and the changes it makes in the store

  • Purchases: viewing a product, buying a product, one of a category or a tag, a variation, completing a purchase with a total greater than, less than or equal to an amount, with a payment method or with a coupon.
  • Orders: an order's status changes, and also that of an order containing a product or one of a category or tag.
  • Cart and reviews: adding or removing a product or variation from the cart, and reviewing a product with a rating greater than, less than or equal to a value.
  • Subscriptions: buying, renewing, canceling, expiring, changing status, a change in the payment retry status or switching variation.
  • Memberships: being added to one, access being canceled or expiring.
  • Customer: reaching a number of total purchases, or a lifetime value greater than, less than or equal to an amount. There is also a trigger for a vendor who gets a sale.

Among the actions are adding the user to a coupon, adding emails to a coupon, creating a coupon, adding or removing the user from a membership, canceling their subscription, retrying their subscription payment, setting an order's status, adding a note to an order, adding a product to an order, setting a product's price and getting details from an order.

Seven filters narrow the recipe: having purchased a product or not, having an active or inactive subscription to a product or a variation, and the customer's lifetime value.

A use case: a note on guest orders with a coupon

One possible combination: a guest trigger for whoever completes a purchase with a coupon, and the action of adding a note to the order. That way whoever prepares shipments sees at a glance that the order used a coupon. Use it as inspiration and modify it to what you need.

What to know before using it

You need AutomatorWP and WooCommerce. All seven filters and many of the triggers and actions, including the guest coupon trigger and the order note, are Pro level, so check in the recipe editor which ones you can choose.

Actions on memberships and coupons act on a user, so with a guest it is worth thinking about which recipe makes sense.

Your first store recipe

  1. Install and activate AutomatorWP and this add-on on the store.
  2. Open AutomatorWP and create a new recipe.
  3. Choose a WooCommerce trigger, for users or for guests.
  4. Add the actions and, if you need them, the filters.
  5. Activate the recipe.

More automation for your store

For other automations, look at AutomatorWP Pro, Uncanny Automator Pro and AutomateWoo Subscriptions. For the store itself, you can see WooCommerce Subscriptions and WooCommerce Memberships.
