About Beaver Extender

For people who already work with the Beaver Builder theme and hit its limits

Fine-tuning a site usually ends the same way: a bit of CSS pasted in one place, a function in another and a script someone added "temporarily". Over time nobody knows where each thing lives, and whoever inherits the site (a client, a colleague, you a year from now) has to hunt for the code blindly. Beaver Extender puts that ground in order inside the Beaver Builder theme.

It fits you if:

  • You already use the Beaver Builder theme with its child theme.
  • You need to place content areas or widget areas in specific positions of the theme.
  • You prefer to keep custom code in one panel rather than spread across files.

It is not for you if you use another theme: it is an extension of the Beaver Builder theme framework, not a general-purpose plugin. Nor does it replace the page builder: Beaver Builder remains the tool for building specific templates.

A CSS editor where you watch the page change as you work

The front-end CSS editor shows you the result in real time while you adjust the design, with no back and forth between the dashboard and the site. Alongside it there is a custom CSS building tool that writes the code for you. It is useful for that tweak to color, spacing or typography that the theme controls cannot reach, and it does not force you to memorize selectors.

Widget and content areas with no cap in Beaver Extender

You can create an unlimited number of custom widget areas, content areas, and page and WordPress templates. This is the part that helps most when a site needs its own blocks in places where the theme offers none.

To decide where and when each area appears, you can also create custom labels and conditionals, also unlimited.

Theme hooks, visible with one click

Placing content in the right spot of the theme requires knowing which action hooks exist and where they fall. Beaver Extender lets you see all the action hooks of the Beaver Builder theme framework directly on the front end with one click. They serve as a visual reference for hooking in your custom widget areas and your Hook Boxes without guessing.

Your CSS, functions and JavaScript in the child theme, from the dashboard

From the Beaver Extender admin options you add CSS, functions and JavaScript to the Beaver Builder child theme. Your customizations stay separate from the main theme, and editing or extending them as the site grows is a matter of going back to the same place.

The plugin's own settings are copied and moved with the import and export options, useful for backing them up or repeating settings on another project.

One caution: functions and scripts are code that you supply. The plugin gives you the place to store it, but it does not write it or review it for you.

Questions before installing Beaver Extender

Do I need to know how to code?

For CSS, not so much: the live editor and the CSS builder help a lot. For PHP functions or JavaScript you do need to know what you are pasting.

Does it work with any theme?

It is designed for the Beaver Builder theme framework. Do not assume it works with other themes.

Is there a maximum number of areas, labels or conditionals?

No: the number of widget areas, content areas, templates, custom labels and conditionals is unlimited.

Can I take my settings to another site?

Yes, with the import and export options for the plugin settings.
