One service, one fixed duration: how money slips away unnoticed
When every service has a fixed duration, the customer who would like a longer session settles for the short one or leaves. And you end up duplicating services ("Session 30", "Session 60", "Session 90") until the catalog is unreadable. BookingPress Custom Service Duration Addon takes a different approach: a single service that accepts several durations, each with its own price.
An hour of your schedule is not worth the same depending on who provides it or how long it lasts. With a single rate you end up averaging, which means undercharging precisely what costs the most to offer. This addon lets you reflect that difference in the price instead of hiding it.
Three businesses, three uses of the same addon
Session-based services: massage, beauty, therapies
You define a minimum and a maximum duration, and a price for each duration. The customer chooses how much time they want and pays accordingly, without you having to create a separate service for every option.
Consulting, classes or advisory sessions
Someone booking an hour of consulting rarely knows whether half an hour will be enough. Being able to offer several durations of the same service saves you from adjusting the booking by hand when the customer asks for more time.
Teams with uneven rates
If the same service is given by an experienced person and by someone just starting out, the price does not have to be the same. The addon lets you set a price of its own for each staff member within that service, in addition to the price by duration.
How pricing works in BookingPress Custom Service Duration Addon
The logic comes down to a few decisions per service:
- Minimum and maximum duration: the duration limits of the service.
- Price by duration: a different rate for each length of time you offer.
- Price by staff member: a price of its own for each team member who provides that service.
Before setting it up, think about what a long range really costs compared with a short one in your business. If the price does not rise proportionally (because of preparation, travel or downtime between appointments), the rate by duration is the place to reflect it. And check in the demo how the customer sees the duration selector in the booking form.
Questions before installing it
Can I charge differently depending on the duration? Yes, each duration has its own price.
Can I set a different price for each staff member? Yes, you can set a price of its own for each team member for that service.
Does the customer choose the duration when booking? Yes, they book the same service for the duration they prefer, within the minimum and maximum you define.
It needs BookingPress in its premium version
This addon does not work on its own: it is an add-on for BookingPress and requires its premium version to be installed. If you do not use the plugin yet, weigh the whole package before deciding.
