About Digits : WordPress Mobile Phone Number OTP Signup and Login Form
An email-based signup form asks too much: open the inbox, find the message, click the link and, weeks later, remember a password nobody remembers. Every step is a door through which someone who already wanted to buy or register walks out.
Digits swaps email for the mobile phone as identity
People who run a store or a community often think that losing users at signup is a form design problem. Many times it is a problem of where verification happens: email takes you off your site, SMS does not. Digits lets people sign up and log in with their phone number and a one-time code (OTP) received by SMS, with no mandatory password.
What Digits does for signup and login
- Mobile signup: users create their account with just the number and the code.
- Passwordless login: they log in with a code received by SMS. You can also allow signup with a password and login with OTP or password.
- Password reset with OTP and the option for users to add their email later, or sign up with email and add the phone afterwards.
- Custom fields in the forms: text, date, number, dropdown, checkbox, radio or role selector.
- Countries: automatic country code detection, a default code, and whitelists or blocking of countries.
- Forms: your own signup and login page, or a modal window, with white label and redirects after login, signup or logout.
- Protection: a captcha on the login form, with hCaptcha and Cloudflare Turnstile support in recent versions, and the option to disable registration or OTP.
WooCommerce and SMS gateways: where the real cost is
Digits has full WooCommerce support: phone verification at checkout, searching users by mobile when creating an order from the admin, and creating the customer on the spot. There are also its own add-ons, such as page lock with forced login, old account migration, merging phone numbers, country-based messages or a field builder with logic.
Important: SMS delivery is handled by an external gateway. There is a very long list (Twilio, Nexmo, Msg91, Clickatell, Amazon SNS, Infobip and many more) and a free option with Firebase. If you use a paid one, the per-message cost is charged by that provider. Recent versions also support WhatsApp. If your gateway is not on the list, its integration can be requested.
Frequently asked questions

Yes, it has country code detection, a selector with flags and international sending depending on the gateway you choose.
Does it work with WooCommerce?
Yes, it includes verification at checkout and compatibility with the order and customer account flow.
Does it support multiple languages?
It states WPML compatibility and includes an Italian translation, among others.
Test it with your gateway before opening registration to the public
What takes longest is not installing the plugin but connecting the SMS gateway and checking that codes arrive in your customers' countries. There is an API test setting for that. Check in the demo how the modal form compares with a dedicated page, and make sure styles and radio fields look right with your theme. If you already have users with email, consider the account migration add-on before changing how they log in.
