You run an appointment business with customers in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Peru or Uruguay, and the payment step falls short: the customer books, reaches checkout and can't find the method they use every day. In that region many people pay with instant transfers, cash at a physical point or a digital wallet balance, not just an international card. If your form only accepts cards, the booking is abandoned at the very last step.

This addon connects BookingPress with Mercado Pago so the appointment payment can be made with the methods your customer already uses, without leaving the booking flow.

Which payment methods Mercado Pago opens up in BookingPress

The methods depend on the customer's country. These are the ones mentioned for each group:

• Cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Elo and Hipercard in Brazil, Cabal and Naranja in Argentina, among others.
• Transfers and instant payments: Pix in Brazil, SPEI in Mexico, PSE in Colombia, Yape in Peru and other local rails.
• Cash and vouchers: Boleto in Brazil, OXXO in Mexico, Rapipago and Pago Fácil in Argentina, Efecty in Colombia, PagoEfectivo in Peru, Abitab and Red Pagos in Uruguay.
• Mercado Pago balance: the customer can pay directly with the money in their account.

What suits each type of business

If you serve a single country

This is the clearest case. A center in Mexico that wants to charge with SPEI or OXXO, or an aesthetic clinic in Brazil that wants to offer Pix, covers what its customers expect to find without extra steps.

If you have customers in several countries

The same form can serve customers from different markets, each with their local methods. It's worth testing the payment from each country you sell in before considering the setup done.

If your customers habitually pay in cash

Vouchers and physical payment points let people who don't use cards book too. Think about the time between generating the payment and it being credited, because it affects when the appointment is confirmed. Check in the demo how the booking behaves while the payment is pending.

It needs BookingPress Premium and a Mercado Pago account

This addon doesn't work on its own: it is an add-on for the BookingPress booking plugin and requires a premium plan of it. You also need your own Mercado Pago account. Whether a payment method appears depends on what Mercado Pago offers in the customer's country, so not every method on the list will be available to everyone.

Does it work if my customers are outside Latin America?

It is designed for Latin American markets, where local methods like Pix, SPEI or OXXO are found. If your clientele is in another region, other gateways for the same plugin will probably suit you better.

Do my customers need a Mercado Pago account?

Not necessarily. They can pay by card, transfer, cash or voucher; the Mercado Pago balance is just one more option for those who already have it.

Can I charge with Pix or OXXO?

Yes, both are among the methods Mercado Pago supports, in Brazil and Mexico respectively.

Does it replace the BookingPress plugin?

If most of your customers live in countries where Mercado Pago is common and not all of them pay by card, this addon removes a real barrier from the booking process. If you only charge by card in another region, it adds nothing you don't already have.
