Bricks Extras (Licencia Oficial No GPL)

A menu that cannot be used with a keyboard shuts real people out

It is the silent defect in almost every advanced element. The dropdown menu looks beautiful and obeys the mouse only. The modal window opens and the keyboard focus stays behind it, on the page. The accordion does not announce whether it is open or closed, so whoever navigates with a screen reader has no way of knowing.

None of that shows by looking at the site, which is why it drags on for years. It shows when somebody who navigates differently arrives, or when the client hiring you starts asking for accessibility guarantees, increasingly common in tenders and in large companies.

BricksExtras treats that as part of the product rather than an extra: its elements come with ARIA labels and keyboard navigation as standard, and still let you modify it.

What the official BricksExtras licence covers

Access to the complete element library, the developer's updates while the licence is current, the documentation and ticket support. The GPLClub team does the activation on your domain.

What it adds to Bricks

• Interface elements Bricks does not ship: off-canvas panel, modal window, notification bar, slide-out menu and burger trigger.
• Content pieces: dynamic table, image hotspots, star rating, breadcrumbs and share buttons.
• Effects applicable to native elements: float, tilt, scroll parallax and an x-ray mode for seeing the structure.
• Dynamic data and query loops in its elements, so they fill themselves with your content.
• Developer documentation, with JavaScript events and functions for hooking in from your own code.

And a technical decision that is appreciated on the public side: no jQuery on the frontend and minimal CSS, so extending Bricks does not cost speed.

When it pays

If you work with Bricks daily. These are elements that end up used on every project, and building them by hand each time is unbillable time.

If your clients have accessibility requirements. Arriving with the components already solved is very different from having to fix them after an audit.

About licensing and the GPL

The code is distributed under the GPL licence and its use is free. Updates, support and activation against the developer's servers are separate services contracted with them. They are not the same thing, and buying one is not buying the other.
