About Conditional Shipping Methods

A customer reaches checkout and sees five shipping methods, three of which don't suit their order: the express option that doesn't cover a sofa, in-store pickup 800 km away, or free shipping next to a paid rate nobody should choose. Every extra option is one more doubt and, sometimes, an order that has to be fixed by hand later.

Conditional Shipping Methods: hide and show, nothing more

This plugin doesn't create shipping methods: it decides which of the ones you already have appear in each cart. It works with two pieces: conditions (what has to be true) and actions (which methods are shown or hidden when it is). What matters for the business is that shipping is where exceptions pile up the most: fragile, bulky or perishable products, areas you don't cover, cut-off times. Hardly anyone has them written down anywhere; this plugin forces you to turn them into rules, and checkout stops depending on the customer guessing.

Conditions you can combine

  • Product: specific products, categories, tags or WooCommerce shipping classes.
  • Weight and price: total of the cart or of each package.
  • Destination, day and time: customer location, day of the week and time slot.
  • Other methods: which methods are available at that moment, including whether a zero-cost one exists.

Each rule is evaluated as «any of», «all of» or «none of» the conditions, and you can add several condition sets with an extra OR option in the rules table. You also choose whether the rule looks at the whole cart or at each package separately, which helps when one order is split into different shipments.

Which rule your store needs

If you sell large or delicate products

Use shipping classes or categories to remove express shipping on heavy items. An example from the plugin's own logic: hide «Free Shipping» when a pallet method is already selected.

If you offer free shipping above a minimum amount

With the price condition, or the zero-cost method condition, you can hide paid rates once the customer already qualifies for free shipping. They don't see two paths and pick the one you prefer.

If you have local delivery or same-day delivery

Show pickup or the courier only to nearby customers and enable same-day delivery only within a time slot, for example 8 AM to 1 PM. On weekends or non-service days you can remove methods you couldn't honor.

If you use live carrier rates

It combines with the UPS, FedEx, USPS or DHL Express live rates plugins to control which services appear according to your conditions.

It needs shipping methods already set up

If you haven't created shipping zones and methods, there is nothing to hide. It also doesn't calculate rates, generate labels or add carriers: it only filters what exists. And the more rules you stack, the more you should test checkout with real carts, because a badly designed rule can leave a customer with no shipping option at all. Pay special attention to multi-package cases.

Frequently asked questions

Does it add new shipping methods?

No. It only controls the visibility of the ones you already have in WooCommerce.

Can I hide free shipping if the order includes something bulky?

Yes: combine a product, category or shipping class condition with the action of hiding that method.

Can I apply a rule to a single package?

Yes, each rule can target the whole cart or specific packages.

Can I limit methods by country or zone?

Yes, there are conditions based on customer location, for example to hide international shipping on domestic orders.
