About Directorist - Business Directory Plugin
Several distinct directories inside one installation
Most directory plugins assume you are building one. Directorist lets you run several types inside the same WordPress, each with its own fields, forms and categories. A local portal covering restaurants, property and job vacancies can carry all three without installing three plugins or three sites.
That design decision changes which projects are viable, because the cost of adding a new vertical stops being building everything again.
Search, which is where it is won
A directory works if people find things. It ships 14 configurable search filters, geolocation-based results with radius search, and an integrated map on listings. There is also AI-assisted search.
Radius search is usually the deciding one: somebody looking for a plumber is not searching their city, they are searching near their house.
The listings
- Unlimited listings, with custom fields per directory type.
- Drag-and-drop form builder, so each sector is asked for what actually applies to it.
- Business hours with management, which in local directories is among the first things a visitor looks for.
- Claim listing: the owner of an already-published business can claim it, which lets you populate the directory first and monetise it afterwards.
- Reviews and internal messaging between users.
- Per-listing analytics, which is what justifies renewal to whoever is paying.
How it makes money
Five routes, and they combine: charging to submit, paying to feature, subscription plans, commission on bookings, and a fee to claim a listing. That last one is what makes the model viable where you populate the directory with your own data and then charge each business to take over its page.
Payment runs through Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net, bank transfer, or integrated with WooCommerce if you already have a store.
What it works with
Elementor, Divi, Bricks and Gutenberg. Common themes such as Astra, Avada and Divi. And for languages, WPML, Polylang, Loco Translate and Poedit, with right-to-left support. It also exposes hooks, filters and APIs for anything that has to be custom.
