About Directorist Listings Slider and Carousel
Your best listings can't wait on page three
In a real estate directory, visitors decide with their eyes: a good photo makes them stay, while a listing in a row among forty others gets lost. If every listing is displayed the same way, the one you most want to highlight competes on equal terms with the rest.
This Directorist extension takes listings out of the grid and sets them in motion, in a slider or a carousel.
Directorist Listings Slider and Carousel: what you adjust in each strip
- Quantity: you decide how many listings are shown.
- Size: height and width of the slider.
- Text and navigation: show or hide the title, the excerpt and the navigation, and adjust the excerpt length.
- Thumbnails: show or hide them and choose how many thumbnail columns appear.
- Image: turn the image on or off in the carousel.
In real estate, a large photo with a short title usually works best. With a long excerpt the slider grows and pushes the rest of the page down.
One shortcode that fits pages, templates and widgets
You can place the slider or carousel on any page, in custom post templates and also in the widget area. That allows, for example, a large slider on the homepage and a smaller carousel on an area or category page.
Everything above is controlled with a shortcode of 18 attributes. Once you have it tuned, you copy the same shortcode to another page and change only what's needed.
Slider or carousel: decide before installing Directorist Listings Slider and Carousel
It is an extension, not a standalone plugin: it needs Directorist installed. It doesn't create listings or change how they are submitted or charged for. Showing them better can help the site look more attractive, but it doesn't guarantee more paid submissions.
Does it work without Directorist?
No. It is an add-on for the Directorist plugin and needs it installed.
Can I put it in the sidebar?
Yes, it can be shown in the widget area, as well as on pages and post templates.
Can I hide the excerpt and keep only the photo and title?
Yes: title, excerpt and navigation can be shown or hidden separately, and the excerpt can also be shortened.
Which should I choose, slider or carousel?
If you want a single listing as the star of the homepage, a slider. If you want several visible at once, a carousel. Try both in the demo with your own photos before deciding.
