About Envira Gallery Social Sharing Addon
People like your photos, but nobody takes them out of your site
You upload a carefully made gallery, people look at it and leave. For someone to recommend it, they need to be able to do it in one gesture, right when they like the photo, and not by hunting for a button lost at the bottom of the page.
That is the weak spot of many portfolios and photography blogs: the best thing that can happen is for someone else to show your work to their contacts, but that person is not going to make an effort for you. Envira Gallery Social Sharing Addon puts the share buttons on every image, in the gallery view or in the lightbox, which is where the visitor is already looking.
From photo shoot to share button, step by step
Imagine you publish the results of a shoot and want its subjects to spread it. The path looks like this:
- Activate the addon. It is activated from the Envira Gallery settings. It is an add-on: it needs Envira Gallery installed and does not work on its own.
- Open the gallery and go to the Social tab. There you choose the networks: Facebook, X, Pinterest, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and email.
- Decide where the buttons go. They can appear in the gallery view, in the lightbox or in both, and you can adjust their position and orientation so they do not cover the photo.
- Fine-tune the message for each network. You can customize the text shared on Facebook, enable rich pins on Pinterest, add a summary for Twitter and set the email subject and message.
- Check mobile. You can choose which networks show on small screens. WhatsApp is only available on mobile devices, so you will not see it on desktop.
Everything is done from the WordPress dashboard, without touching code.
Envira Gallery Social Sharing Addon only works inside Envira galleries
The buttons are added to the images in your Envira galleries. It does not turn the rest of your site into one with a share bar: it puts no buttons on posts, pages or images outside one of those galleries. If you are looking for a general social media plugin, this is not it.
Nor is it an analytics tool: it gives you the button and the settings for each network, not a report on how many times each photo has been shared. Before deciding, check in the demo how the buttons look over your images on mobile, because that is where they are most likely to get in the way.
Common questions before activating the addon
Which networks does it support?
Facebook, X, Pinterest, LinkedIn, email and WhatsApp (the latter only on mobile).
Can I put the buttons only in the lightbox?
Yes. You can show them in the gallery view, in the lightbox or in both, and change their position and orientation.
Can I use it to add buttons to my blog posts?
No. It works on galleries created with Envira Gallery. If you embed one of them in a post, the buttons go on the images of that gallery, not on the text.
Can I change the text that gets shared?
Yes, depending on the network: text on Facebook, rich pins on Pinterest, a summary for Twitter, and subject and message for email.
