About Expo – Modern Art & Photography Gallery WordPress Theme

A gallery with great works and a website that hides them

A museum, an exhibition hall or a cultural center often has the opposite problem to a shop: the content is excellent, but the website buries it in PDFs, unordered event lists and tiny photos. Visitors want to know what is on show, when, where and whether there is an entrance fee. If they don't find it at first glance, they look for it on social media. And someone deciding whether to go to an exhibition isn't comparing it with another website: they are comparing it with their free time on Saturday.

Expo is a WordPress theme designed for these kinds of organizations: art galleries, museums, exhibition centers, art blogs, public libraries, publishing houses or convention centers. It starts from a clean design with room for the image to take the lead.

Elementor, calendar and shop: what Expo brings and what it needs separately

Expo is built with Elementor, so you can change the content of any page without touching code. You can also customize headers and footers from Elementor. The most relevant pieces for this sector are these:

  • Events calendar: it is compatible with The Events Calendar, the plugin for showing upcoming activities with the date, place and price of a workshop, class or event.
  • Shop: it is compatible with WooCommerce for selling services or products such as merchandise, and with a wishlist (TI WooCommerce Wishlist).
  • Bookings and forms: it supports Booking and Contact Form 7, plus MC4WP to connect with Mailchimp.
  • Blog: several blog styles, more than 20 post animations, related posts, view counter, likes and sharing buttons.
  • Presentation: Swiper Slider included, compatibility with Slider Revolution, retina images, fullwidth or boxed layout, and two skins.
  • Navigation: main menu and user menu, and interactive Ajax search.

Not all plugins come built in

The theme being compatible with The Events Calendar, WooCommerce, Booking, Slider Revolution or WPML doesn't mean it works with everything out of the box: these are plugins you install separately. Check in the demo which parts depend on each plugin before planning your website, because some templates only look right with the corresponding add-on active.

Frequently asked questions before choosing Expo

Is it suitable for a small gallery or an independent artist?

Yes, the design is clean and modular, and it also suits an art blog. If you only want a photo portfolio, the calendar and shop parts may be more than you need, but you can simply leave them unused.

Can I sell tickets or products?

You can sell products and services with WooCommerce. There is also compatibility with elegro Crypto Payment for cryptocurrency payments. Ticket sales with seating or capacity limits are not something the theme describes as its own feature: if you need it, check it with a specific booking plugin.

Can the website be translated?

It is compatible with WPML, so you can build a multilingual website.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Since it is built with Elementor and has an options panel with more than 750 customizer settings, most things are handled visually: colors, typography and layouts.

Does it include a cookie notice?

It is compatible with a cookie consent plugin (Cookie Information | Free WP GDPR Consent Plugin). If your website collects visitor data, configure it yourself according to the regulations that apply to you.

A two-skin design worth testing in full

Expo offers two skins, and it is worth deciding which one looks more like your venue before importing anything. Browse the demo pages with that idea in mind.

The demo installs in one click, but check the result

Expo includes one-click demo installation, which saves you from building the structure from scratch. After importing it, replace the sample images with your real works and check that every plugin the demo depends on is active. Also check how the pages look on mobile: the theme is responsive, but large-format photos are heavy, and a slow gallery loses visitors before showing anything.
