If you sell takeout, every dish has two prices to look after

You build your restaurant's menu, dish by dish, and then decide to take orders from the website. It seems the hard part is done, but in Grand Restaurant the menu and the shop are two separate things.

Each dish is a menu post with its price and sizes. Whoever buys it does so in WooCommerce, and the post takes them there with a field called Order URL. That link joins the two pieces, but their data stays separate: the day a price goes up, you will have to change it on the menu and on the product.

That is why it pays to decide early which dishes are sold online. An informational menu is kept in one place only. Each dish that moves to ordering adds one more record to review when you change prices.

The menu and the rest of the site

• Dishes: price, currency, sizes with their own price, a highlight option and categories such as starters.
• Currency: a general setting in the Customizer and a per-dish change if needed.
• Content types: food menu, testimonials, team members and pricing.
• Demos: six predefined sites with one-click import.
• Menus: three layouts, a mega menu, a sticky menu and a side menu.
• Content: six blog layouts and a gallery with lightbox captions.
• Locations: Google Maps styling and multiple locations.
• Languages: compatible with WPML and translatable with .mo and .po files.

Four routes for a reservation

Email form. This is the default option: the menu button opens the form in a lightbox and the submission goes to the address you set, with optional copies to your team and to the customer.

Your own link. The button can lead to another URL, such as a Contact Form 7 page or an external service.

OpenTable. If you already work with that service, the theme supports it as an option.

Appointment Booking. It adds services with capacity, schedules, booking management and payments such as Stripe, PayPal, bank transfer or pay on arrival, with a widget for Elementor. It is designed for services and its schedules are set per employee, so adapting it to tables calls for a test. It is not among the required plugins: check that you have it installed before counting on it.

Three notes for planning the work

It is built with Elementor. It is a required plugin, and the theme is not optimized for Gutenberg. The Pro version is not needed to create the demo pages.

The imported menu may need fixing. WordPress sometimes does not import parent items of large menus correctly. It is fixed by hand under Appearance, Menus.

Shop extras use a separate plugin. The free version of a product-fields plugin is included; its advanced features are not part of it.

Prepare the server and import a demo

For the importer the recommended values are max_execution_time 180, memory_limit 128M, post_max_size 32M and upload_max_filesize 64M. If you are not importing, you can ignore those values. These are the steps:

1. Install the theme from Appearance, Themes.
2. Install and activate the required plugins.
3. Check with your host that the limits above are in place.
4. Go to Theme Setting, Import Demo, click once and wait.
5. Create the categories and load your dishes.
6. Set up reservations and, if you sell, WooCommerce.

With another way of handling reservations

Do I need Elementor Pro?

Not to create the pages you see in the demos. The free version, a required plugin, is enough.

Can customers order food online?

Yes, with WooCommerce. Each dish on the menu can link to its product through Order URL.

Can a dish have several sizes?

Yes. Sizes are optional and each one has its own price.

Can I show the menu in another currency?

Yes. There is a general setting and a per-dish one that changes only that item.

Does the customer get a copy of their reservation?

They can: the email form has an option to send them a copy.

Does it work for several locations?

It supports multiple locations on Google Maps.
