About Gravity Forms ConvertKit Add-On

A subscriber tells you more on the form than in the next three months

You build an email list and months later discover that every subscriber is in the same bucket: the same emails for someone who came for a free guide and someone who asked for a consultation. With Kit (formerly ConvertKit) this is an easy mistake to make if the form only collects an email address.

Gravity Forms ConvertKit Add-On connects your Gravity Forms forms to your Kit account and sends each submission automatically. What matters is not that the contact arrives, but what it arrives with. The moment of signing up is the only time a person fills in details without resistance; afterwards, every extra question costs an unsubscribe or an ignored email. If that moment isn't used to classify people, later segmentation is guesswork.

Fields, tags and conditions: what travels to Kit with each submission

The add-on is designed for creators, small businesses and entrepreneurs who use Kit as their email tool. Its key features:

  • Custom fields: any Gravity Forms field can be mapped to a Kit custom field, so the subscriber arrives with their profile already filled in and you can personalize your emails.
  • Tags: assigned on submission, to separate your audience by interests or by the action they took.
  • Automations: a new subscriber can trigger an email sequence as soon as they join your list.
  • Conditional logic: you decide when the data is sent. For example, only if the person ticks the consent box, with different Kit tags or forms depending on what they choose, or filtering out submissions that don't meet your criteria.
  • Creator Network: after submission you can show recommendations of other creators.

What to keep in mind

It is an add-on: it needs Gravity Forms installed and a Kit account. It doesn't send emails or build sequences; those are designed in Kit, and the add-on only delivers the contact with its data and tags. Creator Network recommendations require a premium Kit account. And since conditional logic depends on how you build the form, the quality of your segmentation is up to you when you design it.

Creator Network, tags and consent: questions from people connecting Kit

Can I map any field to a Kit custom field?

Yes, all Gravity Forms fields can be mapped to Kit custom fields.

Can subscribers be tagged on submission?

Yes. Also, with conditional logic you can assign different tags depending on the answers.

Can I send data only for people who agree to receive emails?

Yes: you can make the submission conditional on the person ticking the consent box. That way only those who gave their permission reach Kit.

Does Creator Network work with a free account?

Recommendations after submission require a premium Kit account.

Can I trigger an email sequence?

Yes, a new subscriber can start an automation in Kit. The sequence, however, is set up there.

If you used Kit's old add-on, the migration is automatic

If you already have Kit's previous add-on connected, you don't need to redo anything: when you install this one, it replaces the old one and carries over your existing settings and feeds with no manual setup. Even so, run a test submission afterwards and check in Kit that the subscriber arrives with their fields and tags.

If you're starting from scratch, spend your first session on the form, not on the connection: decide which two or three details will help you segment, create the tags in Kit and assign them with conditions. A short form with one well-chosen field does more than a long one nobody finishes.
