About Gravity Forms PayPal Checkout Add-On

A form that doesn't take payment leaves half-finished orders

Selling with a form sounds simple until you check the entries and can't tell which are paid, which were abandoned at payment and which ones you need to email to get paid. That is the weak point of selling this way: submitting the form and taking payment are two separate things, and someone has to match them up by hand.

Gravity Forms PayPal Checkout Add-On puts the PayPal payment inside the Gravity Forms form itself, so the order and the payment travel together.

Gravity Forms PayPal Checkout Add-On: PayPal, card, Venmo and Pay Later

Each customer pays the way they prefer, and they don't need a PayPal account:

  • PayPal or card: they pay with their account or type their card details directly into the form.
  • Venmo: available to customers in the United States, alongside PayPal.
  • Pay Later: buy now, pay later options, meant to encourage customers to complete the purchase.
  • Regional methods: once the account is connected, PayPal also offers payment methods specific to each country.

You can sell in several currencies and markets, but which options each customer sees depends on PayPal and on the country they buy from, not on the plugin.

Authorize now and capture once you've reviewed the order

Besides one-time payments, you can set up subscriptions with automatic recurring charges. And three features are welcome once the business is up and running:

  • Authorize and capture later: you hold the amount when the form is submitted and charge it later. Useful if each order needs manual review or preparation.
  • Refunds from WordPress: you return the money from the dashboard, without logging into PayPal.
  • Actions only after payment: combined with the Advanced Post Creation and User Registration add-ons, you can publish content or create an account only once the payment has gone through.

Is Gravity Forms PayPal Checkout Add-On enough, or do you need a full store?

It is an add-on: it requires Gravity Forms to be installed and a PayPal account to be connected, and it only takes payments through PayPal and the methods PayPal offers. It is designed for taking payments from forms, not for replacing a store with a catalog, so if you want a shopping cart with lots of products, think it over carefully first. Test your specific case in the demo before deciding.

Does my customer need a PayPal account?
