About Gravity Forms Stripe

If you charge for services, fees or donations through a form, and don't sell a catalog

Many service businesses collect payment like this: the customer fills in a form, you email them a payment link, and then you check by hand who paid and who didn't. Every extra step is a customer lost along the way.

Gravity Forms Stripe is an add-on that brings Stripe payments into the Gravity Forms form itself, so the payment happens in the same step as the submission. It fits if you sell services, memberships, fees, donations or one-off orders through a form.

It isn't what you want if you need a full store with a catalog, stock and shipping: that is online store territory. And keep three things in mind:

  • It needs Gravity Forms installed: it doesn't work on its own.
  • You need your own Stripe account.
  • It only charges through Stripe; other gateways, such as PayPal, come with their own add-ons.

Card, Apple Pay and bank debit inside the same form

Gravity Forms Stripe accepts major cards, digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, Stripe Link, ACH debit and regional payment methods. The more ways to pay you offer, the fewer reasons someone has to drop out right at the end.

  • Stripe Link auto-fills the payment and shipping details of anyone who has saved them.
  • ACH lets you collect directly from a bank account, with lower fees on larger amounts.
  • A one-time payment is captured the moment the form is submitted.

Check in the demo which methods appear in your specific case before promising them to your customers.

Subscriptions with free trials and sign-up fees: managing them is the hard part

Setting up recurring billing isn't the expensive part. What eats hours is what comes after: cancellations, card changes, questions about the next charge. That is why it matters that customers can manage their own subscription.

You can define custom billing schedules and intervals, with fixed or open-ended duration, add a free trial period and charge a one-time sign-up fee. Users can also manage their own subscriptions from your site through the Stripe Customer Portal, which takes administrative work off your plate.

Authorize now, charge later: reservations and pre-orders

The add-on lets you authorize the payment when the form is submitted and capture it later. It is useful for pre-orders, reservations and service businesses where the final amount is confirmed afterwards.

It does solve the payment, though, not the schedule: if you need a calendar and availability control, you will have to handle that separately.

Refunds and sales without leaving the WordPress dashboard

With Gravity Forms Stripe you see the details of every payment, sales reports and revenue from the WordPress dashboard. You can also process refunds and cancel subscriptions with one click, without jumping between tabs for every task.

Common questions before setting up payments

Can I collect donations?

Yes. It supports one-time payments, recurring subscriptions and donations.

Can I offer free trials?

Yes, on any subscription, with an optional sign-up fee.

Does it work without Gravity Forms?

No. It is an add-on that relies on Gravity Forms and a Stripe account.

Can I refund from WordPress?

Yes, and you can also manage payments, subscriptions and reports from the same dashboard.
