About Gravity Perks eCommerce Fields

An order form built with Gravity Forms works fine until someone asks how much tax it includes, which discount was applied or what the amount is before shipping. This plugin adds the missing pieces so the math is clear before the form is submitted.

Anyone who charges through a form tends to have scattered calculations

Registrations, group bookings, made-to-order requests, quotes with payment: a business that sells from a form rarely has a cart to organize its pricing logic. It all falls on the form, and every rule (a volume discount, a VAT that applies only to certain products) ends up in custom formulas. Gravity Perks eCommerce Fields moves that logic into configurable fields.

Three new fields: Subtotal, Discount and Tax

  • Subtotal: adds up the line prices and updates when the user picks products or options. It can be calculated on all products, on specific ones, or excluding some, and you can add several (for example, one per product group).
  • Discount: a flat amount or a percentage, applied to the total, to specific products or to all products except the ones you choose. With conditional logic it applies only when a condition is met, such as a group discount on a registration.
  • Tax: a preconfigured percentage applied to all products, to some, or to all except those you specify. You can have several in the same form, and it accepts percentages only.

The customer sees the label, the amount and the description of each one, so they understand where the total comes from.

The order of calculations has rules worth knowing

Before building the form, be clear about how the items combine, because not everything adds up on top of everything else:

  • Tax affects the total, but it is not part of the subtotal or the discounts.
  • The subtotal does not include taxes or discounts.
  • Coupons reduce the base on which tax is calculated, but they do not change the Subtotal or Discount values.
  • With the plugin active, coupons do not include shipping.
  • Shipping is not part of the subtotal, discounts or coupons, but it is included in the tax fields and the total.

If your case needs a different order (tax only on goods, for example), you will need to test it with real examples before publishing.

Merge tags to calculate and to display the order

It adds the {subtotal}, {coupons} and {discounts} tags, which you can use in formulas for number and product fields with calculation. This lets you, for example, make custom calculations based on the subtotal. A calculated product excludes itself from the subtotal to avoid a loop. There is also {order_summary}, which inserts the order summary into confirmations and notifications, with support for the new fields.

Payments and coupons need other pieces

This is what the plugin already solves and what you will cover another way:

  • Already solved: subtotal, discount and tax fields, improvements to the Coupon and Shipping fields, calculation merge tags and the order summary.
  • With another add-on: the Coupon field exists only if you use the Gravity Forms coupons add-on.
  • With another add-on: collecting the payment. The plugin calculates and displays prices, but the charge is handled by a Gravity Forms payment gateway.
  • By hand or with code: special rules, such as deducting a deposit from the summary or setting the discount from another field's value, which require code snippets.
  • Outside the plugin: it is not a store: there is no catalog, cart or order management.

Frequently asked questions
