About Gravity Perks Terms Of Service

An "I agree" checkbox doesn't prove anyone read anything

You put a checkbox at the end of the form, the customer ticks it without looking, and the day there is a dispute over a booking or a rental, all you have is a "yes" nobody read. Gravity Perks Terms Of Service adds a dedicated field for your terms to Gravity Forms, with the text visible inside the form and the acceptance checkbox right below it.

Forcing the scroll in Gravity Perks Terms Of Service

The core feature is Require Full Scroll. If you turn it on, the acceptance checkbox can't be ticked until the person has scrolled to the bottom of the box with the terms. It doesn't guarantee they read every line, but it removes the automatic click without having seen the text.

  • The field appears in the advanced fields group of the Gravity Forms editor.
  • The terms are written in a setting of the field itself called "The Terms".
  • It supports HTML and shortcodes, so you can add headings, lists and formatting to make the text readable instead of a grey block.
  • Required scrolling is optional: you can leave it off in forms where the checkbox is enough.

What you gain depending on your situation

Bookings and rentals

It works for booking and rental forms with acceptance of terms. With required scrolling, the customer has to reach the end of the terms before being able to tick the checkbox.

If you already have a terms page

You can reuse the content of that page inside the field, so you don't maintain the text in two places. This requires installing an additional Gravity Wiz snippet (Advanced Merge Tags) and using a merge tag with the page ID. It isn't solved with a single click.

If you need to keep what was accepted

By default, notifications only include the checkbox value, meaning that the terms were accepted. By adding the include_terms modifier to the merge tag, the text of the terms travels in the notification email or confirmation too. It can be applied to a specific field or to {all_fields}, and a snippet with the terms_only modifier lets you show only the terms.

It needs Gravity Forms and Gravity Perks to work

It isn't a standalone plugin: it is a Gravity Perks add-on that relies on Gravity Forms, so you need both on the site. It also doesn't write your terms or make them legally valid: the content and its validity are up to you and your lawyer. The field only presents the text and records the acceptance.

It is a usability barrier, not legal proof of reading.

Frequently asked questions about Terms Of Service

Can I force people to scroll to the end of the text?

Yes, by enabling Require Full Scroll in the field. Until they reach the end, the checkbox can't be ticked.

Can I format the terms?

Yes. The field accepts HTML and shortcodes, so you can use headings, lists and other formatting.

Do the terms arrive in the notification email?

Not by default. You need to add the include_terms modifier to the merge tag. With an extra snippet you can show only the text with terms_only.

Can it be translated?

Yes, with a translation plugin such as Loco Translate.

Can I remove the field's styles?

Yes, there is a filter (gptos_disable_css) to disable the CSS the field adds, useful if you want to give it your own design.
