About HivePress Bookings
A directory that only shows listings doesn't earn anything
Building a directory of rentals or services and making customers write to the owner just to find out whether a date is free ends in unanswered emails, clashing dates and owners who get tired of it. HivePress Bookings turns the directory's listings into bookable items: the user picks dates and the vendor handles the request from their own calendar.
Calendar, blocked dates and booking rules on every listing
Each listing has its own calendar, and the vendor can block or unblock dates with one click. What is most welcome is being able to decide how each booking is accepted:
- Instant booking or by request: the customer books right away, or the vendor reviews and accepts or rejects manually.
- Restrictions: minimum notice, maximum booking window, and minimum and maximum length of stay or rental.
- Custom fields: since the form has no predefined fields, you add to the confirmation whatever each business needs (pick-up dates, number of people, notes).
- Vendor availability: it can be set at vendor level, not just per listing.
Pricing, extras and syncing with other calendars
It supports variable pricing by season and length of stay, paid extras to upsell additional services, time-slot bookings, and searching listings by available dates. It also syncs via iCal with Airbnb, Google Calendar or Booking.com, useful if the owner already publishes on other portals and wants to avoid double bookings.
For online appointments, it can automatically include the Zoom link in the confirmation. And for recurring charges it relies on WooCommerce Subscriptions.
What to keep in mind
It is an extension: it needs HivePress installed and doesn't work as a standalone plugin. If you want to charge and keep a commission on each booking, you have to add Marketplace, another HivePress extension. Recurring bookings depend on WooCommerce Subscriptions. And since there is no closed form, designing the booking is up to you.
Frequently asked questions
Is it suitable for hotels with rooms and complex rates?
It works for date-based bookings, with prices by season and length of stay. If you need a full hotel engine, with its own channel manager, check in the demo that it covers your case first.
Can I charge vendors a commission?
Yes, by combining it with Marketplace, where you set a default commission or a custom one for each vendor.
Does it work for appointments and not just rentals?
Yes: it supports time slots and Zoom links, as well as equipment rentals, real estate or on-demand services.
Can the vendor approve each booking?
Yes. They can leave instant booking on or accept and reject requests manually.
HivePress first, then the bookings
Before activating Bookings, have the directory running with its listing categories. Then decide what type of booking each category offers (by day or by time slot), what fields the confirmation asks for and which notice and length rules apply. If you plan to charge through the platform, also have Marketplace ready from the start. Test a complete cycle as both customer and vendor: book, accept, block dates and sync the iCal.
